Sharingan, I use sleep all the time in XP and have no issues so far.

Oh and my Bluetooth issue turned out to be a defective card, I swapped it with the one in my 9400

It's Vista. Can't remember off the top of my head if I have the N card or the G card. I have heard some people say that Vista has some issues with wireless that will be fixed with SP1.

I also got things to speed up by uninstalling Mcafee as it has some rubbish Proxy on there.

I'm sure if I keep it i'll get to know it's quirks and how to overcome them, but for a supposedly Premium laptop it isn't good out the box :(

I bet thats the same card i have Intel one 4965 like i said i had problems at the start. To the point of going to buy a new card but it works well now but thats on XP for me.

first thing to do i'd format it and install either vista or Xp it will run a lot better than it does now.

Sounds like I'm going to have to play it by ear on the reformat thing. Althought from the sounds of it a reformat does sound likely.

How long does the Outlet take to deliver?

Mine was a week ordered on a Friday night and got it the following Friday.

I currently have 2GB installed in my machine - can i install an extra 1GB or do I have to get rid of what i currently have and get a whole new set?

What i am asking is - do i have a spare ram slot?

4Gb with both, I've got my machine Dual Booted and media direct working :)

Good stuff ! Quick question. There are 4 partitions at the moment on the hard drive. I am thinking about wiping the whole lot and doing a fresh Vista install. Any partitions that I really shouldnt delete ? i dont want mediadirect etc. And I have done a full image of the whole hard drive with Acronis.

If you don't want Media Direct the only other partition you may want to keep is the Recovery partition. i wasn't too bothered about it , and went ahead and wiped it all.

To be honest, the screen is awful, and I think i will be returning it - unless I can convince Dell to replace it

Mehul, I see on notebookreview you've got your screen replaced for a LG.

Mine will most likely be a Samsung when it arrives. I might have to ask you for some advice when it comes to asking Dell to replace mine.

So anyone have Linux installed? I installed Ubuntu 7.10 a few days ago but haven't had a chance to mess around with it yet other than reorder the boot priority. I'll probably spend the day getting everything to work, especially the wireless card. So if anyone has already done all this, then any tips or links to a guide would be great.

Not a problem, just email me/pm me etc. If there are enough people interested I am sure I can put together some sort of how to guide.

Out of interest, i took a few pics when the engineer came round yesterday - I will try and put them up too.

According to Walsh Western, my 1530 arrived at Edinburgh BPO ( whatever that is? ) at 07:44am this morning.

So hopefully waiting for it to arrive sometime later today.

One question to you folks who have already got one of these little gems, have they got eSATA ports or was that an extra you had to add to it during the build on the Dell site?.

I'm looking to grab another external hard drive for data backup and also to use Acronis True Image to take a snapshot of the hard drive in the laptop in case of any future disasters. I've got a couple of spare 200Gb PATA IDE drives kicking around here that I could put in an enclosure but quite fancy the extra transfer speed of a SATA drive as an external.

I think BPO means it is at Business Post - thats where mine was when it said Northampton BPO.

I can't recall seeing a eSATA port although i still haven't investigated mine properly, don't want to get too attached as I may be returning it :(
