go into the Uplink folder, then into the users folder.

You should see a .usr file with your name before it. I just copy that into a folder called backup in the main uplink folder. If you get caught, just copy that back into the user folder and it will restore it.

I still can't find my cd or the security card :( Anyone know if you can link it to steam and not have to use the security card??
 
Knowing Steam , you probs need some sort of ID code

Buy it off Steam :P £6 (inc vat) cant really go wrong
 
hmm just got it again and mine refuses to go full screen in vista. with the fullscreen option ticked it just changes the res and keeps it windowed

*edit - scratch that, a patch fixed it

I loved this game. Brilliant example of how to make a brilliant game on a shoestring from a very original concept. Music was brilliant too.

However, I used to play and always get caught even though I thought I'd always cleared my tracks. Can anyone post the definitive steps for not getting caught?

Looks like i'll have to buy this on steam again now. First stop will be the turbo-money-rinsing-guides posted above - Cheers for that by the way :D

I always link through InterNIC and then the Uplink test server as you have admin access to both it is very easy to delete the logs. Buy the biggest version trace program you can as it will give you more info about how long you have left before they find you.


I have just loaded the game up and my new game has been authorised and is now playable. It seems that if you CTRL, ALT + DEL out of the game and shut it down it thinks that you entered the correct code :D :D
 
hmm, tried to get lots of money using the bank method, however my bypasses appear to not work! They stay red and don't got green! Are they of too low level? I have monitor, proxy and firewall bypass all level 2!

Chances are they are too low a level.

If anyone wants to make loads of money with no effort at all, well, its cheating really then:

Go here: http://www.modlink.net/mods.php?modtype=gateway&pageid=1

Download the gateway at the very top and unzip into your Uplink folder.

So you should have a graphics, data, users and temp folder in the uplink folder.

Load uplink and login.

connect to the uplink server and go to Gateways.

If you scroll down the list of gateways you will see the one you have just installed and it should have a price tag of -11000 or something similar.

Now purchased it. You will get an email and You have just made 11000 credits. You can keep doing this over and over really fast and your bank account will shoot up. delete all the emails.

Fast forward 24 hours until you have received a massive amount of emails telling you that your new gateway has been setup. Log out and back in again.

Now go back into the uplink server and into gateways again. You can now buy the best gateway there. Do so.

Now you can either keep it and work towards the cash in the normal way, or you can again puchase the new downloaded gateway and make 95000 every time you purchase it just as you did above.

Get yourself 2-3 million credits. You can then afford to buy the best gateway, or a better downloaded one. Loads of CPU's and memory as well as all the top of the range software.

It takes the fun out but its good if you've finished the game normally and want a laugh.

Also, not sure if it was a part of the official patches but there was a mod out that added LANs to the game. It is well worth getting as it makes the game a bit deeper and more challenging :D
 
well im number 1 hacker in my list, and I've just received the start of the story mode :D tried doing a lan hack but couldn't work out what i was doing, lmao i like this game, definitely worth £6
 
Have you hacked the uplink server yet and found the secret files in there? It may take 2 attempts to get them all :D
