Directions to Marriot from the station:

come out of the main entrance of Reading station, with the three guineas at your back walk straight on (down the road to the right of the malmasion). Walk over the crossroads into the pedestrianised centre of town and turn right at the end (hsbc to your left, john lewis straight ahead). Walk down Reading high street until you come to another crossroads and carry straight on, but stay to the left side of the road. You should pass Argos on your left and the marriot is 30 seconds after that :)

If you need clearer directions I can be a guide, should be around at midday.

Here is a map for you as well, should be quite easy. Route I described is station > south to station road > Queen Victoria Street > Broad Street > Oxford Road

And for those arriving via RailAir, turn left as you get off the bus, pick up bags (if any), then keep on walking and follow the wall round to the front of the station, then follow as above. :)

I got a bit confused then as I was trying to work out how the directions matched up with the route marked on the map :o

Thought it was a bit of a strange route to be walking :p :D

Week to go chaps. I'm really starting to look forward to this now - can't wait to see what sort of people you all are

If anyone had taken a photo of the first meet, you'd know we make a unique selection of social drinkers that draw only occasional looks from the local patrons ;)

think club 18-50 :p

Gutted I can't come this time, as the last one was great. I've just come all the way back up to Yorkshire from Oxford today as it's the end of term.

Hope you guys enjoy it :)

I very nearly stumbled at the last hurdle, realised part-way through last week that I'm due to be on-call all next week and the weekend - very little chance of getting a call but I've managed to get someone to cover just in case :o

Should be a good night all-in-all, Stan I still owe you a drink from Swansea :D

Close, but no cigar. The point marked B is a random collection of houses and shops. The Marriott is a little to the right. :p

The directions are sound though (although I'd follow the text, not the map - tried both ways now).

I've been on a reconnoitre tonight (in the rain :(). The 3Gs is indeed open and doing plenty of business. The Hobgoblin does indeed get a little busy. And, it seems, most of the late night 'action' happens along Friar St. The Marriott is exactly where I thought it was, and I found the Travelodge too. :)

Just to say - have a good time :D

I would have loved to pop along to this (as it's so local!) and I would genuinely be interested if this is repeated again.

I would also have a look at the Gulshan (More info here) of you're looking for an curry after. Very good - even the indian guys from our offshore like this place. Although it would be prudent to book as it does get very busy later on and they're quite laid back in terms of food delivery time (so plan that in if you need to go for the train!).

So are we all meeting at the Marriott?

Could I get someones phone number just in case i'm late again
email is in trust.

I shouldn't be late this time as i'm now driving. I take it there isn't any free parking near the town center. The hotel I'm at has just informed me that their parking is for staff only.

Should be a good weekend.

Mark

No there isn't any free parking :/ Most of the parking around the streets in the town centre are permit holders only as well.

Looks like I should be able to make it as well, still need to book a hotel though (probably the Marriott).

Stelly, still interested in a lift down to Swindon on Saturday morning?

Hey All,

Not going to be able to make it as I have a funeral on Friday now... not going to go into details but I'm really gutted that I'm not going to be able to make it...

Sorry I've not been about for a couple of days, the transition from our previous flatmate's Virgin account to my new, upgraded account wasn't quite as seamless as it could have been, as a result I have been without interweb for the last two days. On the plus side, I've upgraded to the XL broadband and am now enjoying close to 20Mb/s broadband

For WhiteLigerstarZero (and anyone else who wants it) my phone nubmber is 0 7 9 0 8 3 8 9 1 4 2 (I'll leave it up for a couple of days to give people a chance, then I'll take it down).

Two more get ups and a get up and go :D

Just so you all know, I've been suffering 'the Manflu' since Sunday (all that running around in the rain probably did no good). I should be on the mend by Saturday but you've all now been warned. :p

So, do we have a time and place that we're meeting then? Whilst some of you know each other I have no idea who any of you are so I could just walk right past you :(

I've got Stan's number so if plans change that's fine, would just like to know our first watering hole :)
