I think the guy at Anandtech doesn't have a clue tbh.

From a previous review of the X2 at Anandtech

2560x1600 - 0AA - 78.4
2560x1600 - 4AA - 47.4

What's even more interesting is that in the 9800 GX2 test they use a test setup better than the test setup used in the 3870 X2. Maybe the 3870 doesn't like the SkullTrail setup? :P

Anyway, give it a couple of months, and they will be sub £300.

This is true but at the end of the day some people cant be assed to build a new system they just want to stick the card in and away you go, the price is high but the fact is most of us if we had the money would buy one of theses even if it was just to bench mark it and OC it ;).

Mentioned in the conclusion of the anandtech review "Also please do not forget that this is the fastest "single card solution" VGA card .. you do not need a SLI mainboard for it at all"

I was under the impression that this card used SLI, therefore needing an Nvidia chipset?? Same as an 3870X2 using Crossfire and needing an Intel chipset.

Have I overlooked something ?!?!

Yes.

The Sli "bit" is done on the cards not on the mobo.

Without going through all these pages, is worth going from a bfg 8800gtx oc2 to the 9800gx2?

I honestly wouldn't , but if you have the money to spend and have to spend it, wait a while to see how the reviews here and other places find it , i don't think there will be price drops like the X2 , but its always worth waiting a week or so :)
