Need more space on desktop, is it possible to buy a external hard drive and still have the capability to run games and itunes etc. off the HDD with no problems and loss of speed?

Thanks in advance

As long as its e-sata I wont see why not. Or you could connect it directly to the SATA connector on your motherboard if you dont have a e-sata connector.

I'd understand if you said notebook, but why not (simply) upgrade current one to something bigger? Simply clone old one & either keep or sell it :)

If you must go the external hard drive route, get something that has cooling rather than passive. Latter (mostly BYOD enclosures), can get toasty if using for prolonged periods.

USB will be ok for iTunes/music/video ;)
