What i suggested should work fine on XP. It's under the right click desktop context menu.

If not then TweakUI, like MarcLister said, will do the job.

They're powered by Yahoo widgets. Just search http://widgets.yahoo.com/ for system utilities and you'll find some useful stuff. Need Speedfan for the temperature tool to work.

Im also interested in finding out about this, im getting a bit fed up of the basic vista interface

how do you go about completely changing the look?

I have tried downloading Vista themes, but none of them seem to work or are in a strange format that I cant read.

I use object desktop plus, everything can be done in that. You can then load a second shell app in that called sysstats which is how you get the cpu temps etc....

I used StyleXP to apply an ms style I found on DeviantArt and the dock bar is ObjectDock.

A quick google will find all you need.
