I am still skeptical that this will just be a re-badged GTS, and I hope I am proved right, because otherwise the thing makes no bloody sense to me.

I am hoping Nvidia will turn around on 1st April, and say "Haha, had you fooled!"

Not that I think I will buy one either way. It just seems like a sleazy way of milking more cash out of people if it turns out correct.

I'm hoping you're right too because I'd quite like to have more power than 8800 GTX or 3850 X2 levels, but I don't want to buy an 8900 GX2. Unfortunately though...

...this is how all businesses operate, and they would love to do this if they could. :(

Hmmm, well there's not a lot of games out there that need a better card than whats currently available so it's a moot point really.

*Crysis not included obv!

I'm happy to stick with what I have for now and upgrade the whole rig come the '10800GTX' or whatever it'll be called. :D

These cards are only for ppl with 790i mobo's as well (as they have more than 2x PCI-E slots).
:
I'd of thought you would have known by now....

9800GTX is an 8800GTS with Tri SLi support.
But the 8800gtx/u support TRI-SLI as well....And loads of people have bought them for single slot PCI-express boards...

Blame ATI, no competition equals rehashes of same crap over and over, nvidia have no reason to release anything new right now when there current range is selling so well and they can just compete with the same old tech and save themselfs a ton of cash.

Plus there not really any new PC games out (apart from crysis) that needs a new highend next gen card

Spot on. Hopefuly it'll change pace with R700.

That would be an excellent PR move, fooled the whole industry, and we are all almost embarassed into then swallowing our words and paying up. Kinda doubt it, but would be funny never the less.

So far as people saying no competition from ATI. I think the sheer volume of nvidia threads on every form, kinda fools people into thinking nvidia dominate the market in every level. They simply dont. Untill last week, ATI had the performance crown, and the mid/low end.

If nvidia are waiting on R700 before flexing there muscles then, that is there choice, they obviously feel confident in there brand and technology to take a gamble like that.

If it was me, I would have desimated ATI when I had the chance, but meh.

When did ATI have the perfomance crown uptill last week ?

That X2 does not beat the Ultra in every test and at the end of the day its 2 GPU's so dont matter if it did anyhow.

No shame if 2 Cores did beat a Tech 1.5+years old.

No shame if 2 Cores did beat a Tech 1.5+years old.

Because:

A. The ultra was no longer in production and hard to find (perhaps I should have stated fastest card in production?).

B. The X2 was beating the Ultra in most of the tests.

C. Doesnt matter when the card was made, here, and now (or more to the point last week) the X2 was a quicker card, regardless of how it was constructed.

13 out of 17 tests might not seal it as, completly superior to the Ultra. But it is consistent enough to rain supreme. Till last week

Again who actually cares ?, a Dual Core GPU only just beating a 1.5+year old Single Core is nothing to boast about esp since only 1 buggy game brings a GTX/Ultra to its knees.

I would rather use what I have till next REAL gen.

This is a Nvidia thread BTW, so take fanboy crap elsewhere.

I think both the X2 and GX2 are a joke, I would buy niether.

 yet another thread where people are bashing a card that has yet to be released and no one on this forum has tested yet, and yes i know some will say its already been released because it a just 8800GTS . This is just like the the old 9800GX2 bashing threads before it was released which turned out to be a very good card and everyone when quiet :D. I'll hold judgement till i see some true benchmarks. :)

@ Willis, the Purple Shirt bridage will sell them to Joe "n00b" Public.

Anyone here with half a clue on a GTX/Ultra would not buy them I would hope.

We all know its old tech and waste of time, I think it should have been called the 8900 series then it would be easier to accept IMO.

I dont care if anyone buys one, but be a shame for some n00b kid to buy thinking its the Next Gen.

Not a fanboy in the least, am simply answering your question with the evidence to back it up. If I said, ZOMG ATI > Nvidia, then, yeah sure, otherwise put up or shut up.

N well, if you think there a joke, that is your opinion. The sings in the industry seem to be pushing toward multi cores in the future.

The topic is about a Nvidia card not ATI, so open a thread on it elsewhere m8.

I know the future is Multicore jsut not 1.5year old Cores under a new Series when it aint IMO (Nvidia)

The ATI X2 benches over a old Single Core Card are again a joke IMO.

So shut up yourself Thug. :)

Your the one who asked the question, and I felt like I had the knowledge and the evidence to answer it. It's not my fault your taking offence to it.

N I wouldnt even lower myself to a bitch fight over the interwebs with ya, I proved a point, end of.
