More Meat please! (Thread about good steak)

I'm with Freefaller on this one, both those would do for me alone. Although they'd have to be rare with a nice strong Stilton sauce, or topped with the same Stilton, and a selection of sautéed mushrooms.

I could eat both of them if it didnt have anything on the side, but tbh untill you see the amount of meat its a hell of a lot and I'm no small chicken.

I say this is every 'steak' thread that crops up:
Whichever way you cook it, let it rest for 10 minutes before eating!

I like either entrecote or fillet.

Only because the French are vampires did I have to endure a point being rare and bien cuit being medium rare.

I always have my meat well done. If you lack cooking skillz it will be what all the 'I am better than you because I eat rare meat as it has more flavour blah blah blah' say.

An excellent cut of meat will be good no matter how cooked it is (or isn't) providing it is appropriately cooked. Furthermore I think cooking adds to the flavour of the meat. If you pre-marinate the steak then you get wonderful flavours and the chance to make a tasty jus.

I don't say well done is the best way nor do I claim that people who like their meat this way are uncouth. It's so much easier to argue that undercooked is best because that's what everyone says

each to their own, but I'll always be able to justify well cooking meat. In the case of a truly wonderful piece of steak which I've paid £25+ for I will leave some pink in the middle. Otherwise it's well done for me. Not overdone mind, because it's not great to have it overly done.

Get some sauteed potatoes in garlic, mushrooms in garlic and a tri-mash :D perfection.
just make sure the cooking wine is tip-top (ie as good as what you're drinking)

OP: you spent £16 or so on the steak but you're drinking bottled beer? This is worse than 'overcooking' it. Pay for good meat: at least get a fine wine to accompany it.

That is far more churlish tbh.

Once you overcook your meat, it loses its juiciness and flavour. I've never understood people who buy expensive cuts and meat then proceed to cook it well-done - it just ends up tasting like a cheaper cut.
I'd never 'tell' anyone how to cook their meat, that's entirely up to you, but overcooking an expensive cut is pointless.

I don't like drinking red wine, as I stated earlier I am uncivilized, but I like good meat, I really couldn't care that it should be cooked using a Châteauneuf-du-Pape or a nice Bordeaux.

As for the comment on price I would gladly pay 20-30 quid for a nice steak and I would still drink beer with it.

Next time I have a week in London with work I am going to go to a Gauchos, there is one by our office in Canary Wharf.

They are supposed to do immense steaks.

Nothing I will eat will ever beat the delmonico steak I had while in the states last year. Absolute perfection and the best steak I have ever had in my life:

Would a foil wrap keep it from getting cold for 10 mins? Don't really like eating food that should be warm cold.
