Who's downgraded?

Any excuse to try and get one up Easy.

No one cares Easy. Your credibility is lost in these parts as evident from peoples attitudes towards you. You seem to bring it on yourself from your constant pointless trolling in order to try and better yourself above everyone else, I've told you the reasoning behind my downgrade so how about listening to someone else for once instead of yourself in the mirror?

You are infact Old news my friend.

You know where the door is

My main reason was not to wait for next gen but infact to free up cash for stuff I do need at the moment

I don't need the GTX but I did need a decentish GPU. The 8800 was the best comprimise whilst freeing up cash. What part don't you get?. Infact no I'm not wasting anymore time with you. It's the same old story

I'm happy mate:)

Its people trying to get the easy shuffle...and failing the does my head in:p

So what your saying if that this method of selling and buying to upgrade / downgrade while trying to make back money or make the smallest loss is an art that you have perfected called the "easy shuffle" (sounds like a camp dance move that only you can do) and that any one else that trys it and doesnt get to amount of money back or the amount that you lost in one of your upgrades / downgrades has failed at this task.

Easyrider get a life.

OLD news..

Make 65 on your GTX... Buy a 8800 GT

For the love of god!

You can buy a GTX brand new for <£200.

Tom selling his for £195 is brilliant seen as what they cost new.

Tom puchases a new graphics card...8800GT. Which when overclocked can perform upto the standards of the 8800GTX in the games that Tom plays. If it doesnt quite get up to the standards then real world difference is minute and he wouldnt notice the difference.

So Tom has bought a new card that does exaclty what he needs and got back some cash which he can wack in the bank, gain some interest and put forward to the purchase of his new graphics card when it comes to that time.

You should have done the easy shuffle when the GTX would have got you £250. :p

£65 Towards new gen is nothing. lol

I would have just kept the the GTX if selling now in todays current market.

Upgrades should either bag you money so upgrading to next gen cost very little.

Thats easyriders way :D

You say you sold your GTX at £250... so you bought a GTS 512 at around £220+ so you actually got less money than Tom to go towards your new card. And you bought a card that does exaclty what you want and performs up to GTX standards when overclocked.

Based on that the easyrider way seems to suck, quite badly.

Tom has obviously done the right thing here and you can not comment saying he has done it badly seeing as he has gone about it in a better way than you.

End of.

I sold my GTX for £345

I did not sell it for 250.

I said that one should sell GTX when one could get 250 for it.

on 8800GT release.

Then don't justify 65 quid for nexr gen upgrades....

The thing you should have done is keep the GTX until it dies.

You have a 8800GT (a slower card ) Thats 117 here at ocuk...

and have downgraded for no gain.

Thats the bottom line.

You're being pedantic more like.

I wouldn't want a card until it dies either.

Tom downgraded, gets cash back for his card & buys something similar, can somebody please tell me what the major issue is here?

FWIW, I downgraded from a 256MB 6800GT AGP to a 128MB 6800LE AGP, when its replacement (7800GS) died after 13 months, I downgraded bact to the LE! :o

Quite. :p

I knew someone would say this.

I'm not touching another nVidia card until the drivers are sorted, working properly, and get regular proper updates.

I loved my 8800GT, fantastic card, but i'll pass on the texture corruption thanks. :)

Amen. I'm not touching nvidia products with a bargepole for the foreseeable future.

As for downgrading, I went from 30" to 24" - does that count?

Bloddy hell. Just skimmed through most of the thread :D

Anyway I would say its a wise move Tom. It's a step a friend of mine took as soon as the GTs were released. I told him to get a GT as theres not a lot of difference, he managed to get £240 for his GTX. Although the prices of the GTs were a little higher than they are now.

My only gripe with my GT is the Rev.1 fan. It does not kick in at all and normally reaches 85c+ within games. It also causes the games to crash. However If I take the fan up to 100% all is fine. Very anoying. I keep mean to change the cooler.

.

Thats the way to do it.

Bag some cash for your old card and move on.

Selling a GTX now for a GT when the price drops have already taken place is

not really the way to do it.
