In FM07 I think chairman accepted an offer on Pique and I didn't offer him a new deal! Duh. 
If I really wanted to keep a player I would offer him a lot more than he would be worth, just to try and persuade him to stay.

I would order them thus: 1st Ronaldo. 2nd Silva. 3rd Messi. Why Messi 3rd? Gets injured all the time.

You obviously haven't experienced the wonder of getting a BSS/BSN side through the football leagues yet then?
Takes a lot of work, but it's a nice accomplishment when you manage to get into the Championship/Premiership.

It's great when you land your first big transfer a few seasons into the game... I've managed to bag Frank Sinclair... even though he is about 38ish in my game he's still better than most of the defenders I can get

Well my local side in FM would probably be Haverfordwest... and since they're already in the highest Welsh league it wouldn't be that fun... Building a fairly solid team now, relying on freebies from like Utd etc, and Under 18s.
It takes a lot of patience though, like if you miss play offs by one point or something, you've gotta play another 46 games to get the chance to get promoted again.
Heading into the 2013/14 season i think.

I normally make a point of buying him in any footie game, whether it be Season Mode in Fifa or FM
