****The official GT5 Prologue Thread****

Hmm yes you're right. It is stupid to be commercially aware of the effect you consumer powers have. Like all you fools who rushed to buy 360s when the failure rates were unacceptably high. All you could think about was playing your little games, when in fact if you'd have been more aware you would realise that all you are doing is supporting a business that exploits the consumers, and they know they will just lap it up. Frankly I don't care either way, if you're happy to spend hundreds of pounds on a console that is almost guaranteed to break within a month or two then you must be a complete mug.

Ok, the article is up - it's quite short though. Basically, damage is coming to Prologue in the autumn :D, Polyphony are considering doing an F1 game and the current London track is only half the size of the one that will appear in GT5

Wow, I really hope DP do an F1 game as it would probably be awesome, but then in the same breath I really hope they don't as if they started work on it now we would be playing the 2008 season in 2012 :(

well im totally stuck on the overtake all in the teg in group B. best iv had is 5th, anyone got any tips as its the last race in that class and im totally frustrated.

I assume you're using manual gears and have all driving aids turned off? Thats the first thing you need to do to get the most speed. I also assume you're using slipstreaming to the best of your ability, also hugely important. The only other tip i can give other than that is to ignore the recommended speeds for every corner APART from the S bend in the middle of the track (the one surrounded by grass), you can actually do every other corner on the track at least one gear higher than it recommends, infact you can floor it through the last bend if you get it just right (instead of the 4th gear it recommends)

I'm yet to get gold in that event... missed it by half a second yesterday :(

I managed to pass it first time. Turn the nanny-state off and use the slipstream.

The Ferrari one in Class A is solid on the other hand. Had another few goes this morning can' get above 7th. It's a twitchy little blighter, turning the nanny state on just makes it slow.

well all driving aids are off but im using auto. manual is the way forward? best have it set to right joystick? iv noticed if u hammer around the second bend evan if u hit the wall it sends you flying round and keeps the speed up. im a good 4 seconds off the first place cooper s.

I've been struggling with this one since yesterday, i just can't get past 6th. That stupid 599 keeps blocking me on the first corner and then i'm just stuck for ages as the roads are just far too narrow to do any non-suicidal taking over. I've done what i would call a 'perfect' lap about 4 times now, always finishing 6th, i just don't see how people manage this one. I'm tempted to just screw it and turn off professional physics just to get it over with.

The physics on this game are pathetic, it is just so unrealistic in terms of trying to counter-act slides. Not going to purchase the full game if it stays the same as this.

While I had been shaving milliseconds off my time by following Hamilton-beating racing lines around the track, and perfecting my technique over the course of two hours, the barsteward who leads the online leaderboard just bounces off the frickin' walls!

GT5 Prologue's lack of car damage means that dodgy players can use the metal barriers on two of the corners in the course to bounce round faster than any racing line you or I can take. It's a joke.

Sure, it takes a degree of skill to execute because if you don't hit the wall just right you'll either loose too much speed or the game will penalise you for a barrier collision and take your acceleration powers away for a few seconds. But hit it just right and you're away.

I decided a 3rd attempt for online play on one of the Pro servers, I think..., my god how lame some players are. Some lamer in a Nissan GTR, can't remember his PSN ID, got something, every time someone came up behind him. He was swerving right then left and so on. Soon as we came up along side him he ran us off the track. Once nobody was behind him, he slows completely down for us to catch up. So we try to attempt getting past him. Once again he's ramming left and right both off us off the track through the corners and racing up your rear end causing you to go flying off the track.

This type of play remained the whole 3 laps. Can you imagine how frustrating that is.

I finally stayed pinned to his bumper the entire straight on Fuji Speedway tricked him going left and shot past him on the right before the finish for 1st. Heh, he turned transparent for ramming my left door as I passed him.

I seriously hate that type of dirty racing. I sure as hell wont be playing much online with this until lobbies are controllable by users or whatever they intend to implement in future updates. Too many dirty drivers that spoil good clean racing.

B-6, **** **** and **** off can you get gold in that, I can't even get anywhere near even bronze atm, it's ******* impossible seriously, I nearly smashed my pad into my door, I'm using driving aids with manual gearing, I even whacked the racing line on there thinking it would help :(, ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

EDIT 1 - LOL, just switched all the aids off, got third place straight off, strange, I thought driving aids are there to help you, guess I won't be using those again, the games good, and the pad is safe for another day :D.

EDIT 2 - Second place now, ummm, temped to try for gold now, if I get gold I'm doing a dance in my room and treating myself to a beer :D.

EDIT 3 - I was hoping to have 'GOLD' written in the third edit in the large font but I couldn't do it, I gave it a good try, going to have another bash at it tonight, I'm surprised how easy it is to drive with the aids off, the main difference seems to be that you car will tend to spin off the track easier if you turn too aggressively, apart from that it feels allot better, plus your times improve a hell of allot.

I have to say I think the "shortcut" and "collision" penalties need vastly improving,

I have been on the racing line and someone has come along side Me and I get penalised for protecting the line, and whilest going parallel to the track with two wheels on the track another penalty - its daft

In the early stages they help you to not spin out around corners and limit your corner taking ability etc, ultimately these things make for a safer drive but take away a lot of the control nuances that you need to improve your lap times.

Ok I have just started the group A races. Can anyone recommend me a decent car for the first race?

Try them all one by one and find your own favourite, the GT series is a little like an RPG in that you really need to find your own preferences and way of playing. IMO of course :)
