skittles vodka

Vanilla pods work a treat! (don't use vanilla essence) Turns the cheapest vodka into something quite drinkable. Leave it for a few months for best effect. They don't break down as quick as skittles.

What do you do with Vanilla pods? i've never really handled them
 
I've done something similar, but with Werther's Originals and i've been told to try doing it with Strawberry BonBon's.
 
I am planning to do this for a May bank holiday house party.

I'm away in SA for 2 weeks though, would leaving them to infuse for that long mess them up?

I was thinking of doing strawberry skittle, lemon skittle, and marshmallow (I saw this online) ones.

Should I just wait and do it in the week running up to the party after I get back?
 
How do you know when this is ready?

I've got a bottle here thats nice and colourful, scum at the top, no sign of skittles at the bottom, but its only been one day.

Is it ready for comsumption? (after getting rid of that nastiness at the top obviously)
 
Takes about 5 days after lots of shaking and stuff, but once the vodka is a bit coloured and the skittles are white with a lot of filth at the top it's probably near enough done. I'm going to make some for my return to uni in 2 weeks time.

Any other excellent flavours to use? I've heard mint aero is good :s sounds a bit mental though. Anything I can do with sambuca per chance?
 
Well I'm using 35cl bottles and I've used about 30 skittles in each bottle now after 18hours all the skittles have dissolved but the colour doesn’t look that nice.

How many skittles have you used for the 35cl bottles? Do you add more later on? Does the colour change over the next couple of days?

Right, cheapo bottle of vodka, check.

Apologies for not reading through the whole thread (quite long), I have a 70cl bottle, how many bags of Skittles do I need? And to confirm, I'm only making one bottle, so I can put them all in, except for green?
