Super Stardust HD (PS3) - OC Leaderboard Challenge

PS: 'SebC' doesn't cut it :D I need to change my name.... somehow

The poster formally known as Newguy, maybe?
Should spend a bit more time playing this though its prob the best twin stick shooter ive played for ages. Even though i prefer the out and out strangeness of everyday shooter though.

What a game! It's been my saviour for the past week that I've had it - Whenever I got bored of studying for my upcoming resits I could just turn the PS3 on, click the game and get right in, even just for 10 minutes on one planet :) But then for some reason I got hooked on trying to beat rp2000!

I think I've easily played at least 12 hours by now, so I'm gonna write some tips methinks

Just got 20,126,165 on Segomo which is 51 in the world ;).

Just got to beat your arcade score now.

so I will update this again soon (too much time at work!!), just got 147million+ on arcade, some manic fights!!!! That's two high scores for rp2000 and challengers to beat :p :)

I feel on top of the world after that :D

Congrats you two :D

My mum has been playing this game everyday and is still struggling to finish Lave so far :( I also showed her Calling All Cars and she's getting hooked on that too. It's quite funny :p

Meanwhile.. I haven't really played any of it much myself. Trying to catch up on the big titles like COD4 etc.

WTF!!! You obliterated my scores for every single level!!! (Well Done!! :D )

I will update the tables at some point, begrudgingly :)

scoreboard update pending :)

bumpety - the update is out and it's fantastic!! I'm going to update the scoreboards soon(ish) so get practising folks!!!!!

I'm going to simplify the scoreboards too, to make it easier to maintain so many high score tables (probably remove 'OCUK ID' in favour of keeping 'PSN ID', and remove 'Rank' although special mention may be given to particularly high positions. Feedback welcome :)

If you're my friends list and play SS:HD you're scores will be added / updated (I'm planning on the weekend at some point), otherwise put in a friend request :)

my best arcade score is 103 million but i reckon i could get more, lost lives needlessly. Once you get to elite, it can be hard to stay alive :p

Had my first go at arcade today (only just bought this), i got to the third planet and then died, i don't know how on earth you guys manage such huge scores - i was exhaused by the time i beat the second boss.

What made the difference between constantly dying on the first level and managing to get to the 3rd level in one run was learning when to move. At first i used to just go round and round the planet like a headless chicken, when i learnt to sit on my arse and only move when really necessary i became a lot more proficient.

Cool might try that tonight.Any other good tips....???

If you can avoid using bombs on arcade you'll get a higher score:p Remember to zoom through stuff as well, and make sure to use the right weapon for the job (enemies are colour coded according to what weapon will be most effective against them). Practise on planet mode as well :) And try and relax - some of my best scores come from when I'm quite chilled, if you panic you're probably more liable to crash into stuff :) Have fun!!!

edit: and make sure to pick up the right power ups - mainly rock crushers for the first planet then start to top up your gold melter, after that you can work on you ice-crusher. There's a few tips posted about in this thread too :)

further edit: shields are your friends. Picking up a further shield when you already have one sets off a handy bomb, so they're sometimes worth rushing in for (be careful though). Another tip, you don't have to destroy all enemies - the mines will blow up anyway over time so you can concentrate on other things.
