Isn't it odd that some people are perfectly capable of cycling on the road and going years without an accident, and others keep shouting "oh noes! it's a deathtrap! I'll go on the pavement instead!". I cycled to school for years down a busy high street, round university for three years and then to work for at least a year through the middle of London and I've yet to be hit by a car or in fact have any accident. I don't think that's luck....
This, right here, is correct. If you can't carry out an activity legally and safely, then find an alternative. Otherwise, why shouldn't I decide that roads were too dangerous to drive my car on, so I'll drive on the pavement instead? After all, thousands die in car accidents on the roads every year...
If you're life is so at risk then walk, you can't cycle safely where you're meant to then don't cycle.

p) by cyclists riding on pavements? Would be interesting to see just how many people are killed by cyclists each year in comparison to cyclists killed by motorists...
