Whatever way you look at it if you choose not to fight you are civilian and its poor form and against international law (not that every country on the planet breaks international law regularly including us) but civilians should not be intentionally killed. And I think the term you are looking for is not world war but total war where civilian populus are targeted as part of a countries infrastructure and ability to wage war.
I'd have one n goosestep it around the living room![]()
Those civilians are the ones who are building the weapons, farming the food for the soldiers. I can't see how you can class them as civilians in a world war. Totally different in smaller conflicts.
Not saying it's right to carpet bomb citys. But there not exactly civilians.
You did not read the whole post did you, you have to seperate out essential war effort workers as collateral damage but they cannot be defined as legitimate targets there is a difference.

its that woman isnt it? the one they all salute to?
Haly Hitler?

That is a question that can pretty much be asked about any collectable.
Only in allied propaganda.
The fire bombing of Dresden would disagree with you.
I suppose I would have been better off in asking whether there would be anything valuable about collecting it or whatever other reasons there could be for it? Honestly I am intrigued.
And in international law, which has always been bent and broken by every country that has waged war since its introduction.

I never said we have a clear record as a country, Dresden was a as bad a crime as any other targeting of civilians. And I do state that even our country breaks international law.
Crikey that was a prompt reply. The macabre concerning this I had not considered. Hero worship amongst nazis being another and so on.
What do you expect in a world war, there is no international treaties and thus no international laws.
International law doesn't really exist unless there is the will by the major players to enforce it.
In an almost global conflict such as the second world war I am not sure it is as bad a crime. Much the same as the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In a war such as that the aim is to reduce the capability for the nation to fight back as quickly as possible. In the long run that saves many more lives. It isn't nice, but then the realities of war aren't nice.
I know what war crimes are, however under world war they do not exist. A country will not surrender encase someone gets punished 30 years down the line. the idea or war crimes in an international war is a stupid idea. You can surly see how it can't work and does not exist, in any real sense.
Bombing of "civilians" in a world war is totally legit as every single person is doing there part for the war machine.
Surely bombing purely residential areas, hospitals, schools, etc can't be seen as "legit"? :\
