pw invalid means just that, caps lock or something, created a character but then blank screen, currently alt-tabbed from blank screen, not sure whats going on :(



Ive had that for the last 1/2 hour then on the openbeta1 server. Ive just tried openbeta4 server and im on the beach at last!

shame its time for bed.
 
Lol, anyone remotely impressed so far?

Though there is rumours that its quite a old client they are using, which if true is a blessing because very few people are happy with it so far. I'm just alt tabbed out, checked 3 separate forums waiting for it to load into the next zone. So much fun.

EDIT:- yay, 1/3 loaded to next zone, and its only been about 4 minutes.

Current client *should* be the gold client, it recieved a big patch last week which updated performance and engine issues i.e. the miracle patch'.
 
Well

Managed to get to character customisation make a character and attempt to get in, but the load times are absolutely atrocious. I really dont think this game is anywhere near ready. It takes about 10mins to load up. Could do with another 6 months work, have no doubt in my mind that actually trying to get it to start is the biggest downfall for this game. Yes it starts but **** me it takes a long time and tbqh it isnt worth waiting that long for!

Yes its beta but christ almighty they haveno chance of fixing the load times in two weeks.
 
Someone mentioned the client number was lower than the PVP beta they were in and that client is supposed to be very old. THey might be trying to cause crashes on user clients to see how massive crashing effects in world stuff on the server. IE characters getting stuck logged in and then being unable to reconnect. I guess its possible.

But load times are absolutely ridiculous. I simply won't play it if they aren't fixed, we're talking 10 minutes to enter a new area and I've crashed/timed out or something while trying to load area's and have to reconnect and start loading over again.

THe enviroment looks, just not right, overly busy with crappy sprite objects. You can tell when a bush/patch of grass is a sprite more often than not because crap ones will "follow" you as you walk around them. AS in they are always lined up to the character and look the same from any angle, walking around them they appear to follow your position. They look poo, and as I feared, early combat seems to be dominated by, press left up the middle, or right and everything else be damned. Skills auto learned so no training, no effort, no choice up till now. Still early, just can't get further due to loading times.
 
Preorders are a big big con on this one I feel - you set aside 1-2 hours for playing, you will most likely end up playing for 30mins.

Terrible they are releasing a game in this state.

The PvP beta was patched up to the latest version part way through that beta event and was the version that was going gold - I presumed the open beta would be using the same client being as it's really just an advertising exercise for the game now.

n.b. I got all the info from a certain beta leak forum during the PvP test itself.

Anyone remember the endless bitching and over reaction of its beta players?
*Rubs hands* I just hope if a game can create as much moaning as WoW then it must be good! ;)
 
So far enjoying it a lot with my Necromancer. Nice to see pets at an early level. I filled up my inventory pretty quickly so I think the 8-slot belt will be important if we don't get access to extra bags in-game.

Got everything set to high at 1680x1050 and only get a bit of stuttering when in large groups (c2d e6550, 4gb ram, 8800gts 320mb) though the game looks very nice.

Combat is more involved rather than some games for attacking targets so you have three starting melee attack options for different areas of the body. It seems that they mix the NPC's with left/right-handed so it will come into play in the game rather than the usual double-click-to-attack.
