I've had a few patches and it says that it's complete now...but I still have that.

Hmm, in the install DIR there is a ConanPatcher.exe and a PatcherSetup.exe. I ran the conanpatcher directly to get to the latest version. Until it actually asks you your login and pass to patch.

anyone getting where they select a server, and go to create character, then the progress bar goes across the bottom and it then just hangs?

PvP server -
5% Death penalty
10% Loosing any Inventory Item
4% Droping Any Equiped item

Do you have a source for that? I've been trying to find out about the rulesets by searching on their forum and wiki and so far the only hint I've found is a post from over 16 months ago by a dev saying that there will be partial looting!
