Coolest gaming moment for you?

Doing the "Glowy" quests, seeing the old man and finally entering the Jedi Village in SWG.

:edit: Also tracing a bounty and not realising it was a mate until I was within view of him :D

Coolest console moment was probably playing Silent Hill 2 for the first time, I thought the disc had stopped during the FMV, but it was in game graphics :D

Entrance to Black Mesa in Half-Liife had a massive effect on my life.

I agree, I couldn't think of any because theres been loads but that for sure, I remember seeing it round my mates house on his 166mhz PC thinking... wtf.

WoW as a whole and the scale of the world in which you play I think is awesome. Dont play it anymore though.

-edit2, having a fight in school over which was best, psx/saturn/n64, we all had bleeding noses and detention for the week :D

bah, you young wipper snappers not know what a true fanboy fight is all about - our generation invented it ;) Fighting over C64, Speccy or erm... Amstrad - then there was always some gimp who's Mum got mixed up and bought an Oric 1 :D

First couple of really cool memories were:-

  • Playing Elite for the first time and being completely blown away by it - I read the book too which came with it, think it was called the Dark Wheel, so I was living the moment.
  • The music from Parrallax on C64 used to send shivers down my spine while it was loading.
  • Flying the Cheese as high as you could go on Mercenary and then jumping out. <------ let's see who remembers that one ;)

More recent cool moments:-

  • The two cinamatic moments in COD4 + the air to ground support mission.
  • First time I played GTA III.
  • First time I played Vice City and got on a Motorbike
  • The opening scene of Half Life
  • First time I played CS online

mavity Gun in HL2. Not only was it amazing to have such good physics in the game but you could actually manipulate objects! It was brilliant and still is one of the best items in a game.

The start to Homeworld, probably one of the first 3D games I played on the pc, that opening scene with the mothership and the music wowed me

I found Majoras mask to be great, put a new twist to the game and made it a bit more of a challenge.

Precisely. It was a breath of fresh air for the series and I really got on with the mask/song combination in the game (2 things I sorely miss when playing Twilight Princess).

seeing my mates jaw hit the floor when i showed him tomb raider 3dfx

playing doom for the first time and when trying to explain what the game was like to a mate claiming 'its virtual reality'

the original grand theft auto in 3dfx mode

seeing shogun: total war screenshots for the first time ever and waiting an age (and a gfx card upgrade) to play it

seeing the original geforce256 strut its stuff

beep.....beep....beep....beep.beep.beep.beep.beep...aaaaarrrrghh then falling backwards of my seat while sh*tting my pants playing avp on the atari jaguar in the dark.. with my mates all ******* themselves laughing

and finally, waking at 6am to find my dad had been up all night playing lemmings on the master system and had written down 27 of 30 mayhem codes...just one more go son...

:D
