Right, off the phone to Orange just now, following a somewhat confusing series of events:
My old phone went funny whilst on the phone to upgrades. Organised upgrade, then went to insurance to get my old one replaced whilst I waited for upgrade to come. No problems from Oranges end, apart from they couldn't arrange courier, so I wait 24 hrs for them to call back.
Upgrade arrived a day early, the day I should have received my insurance replacement. Had insurance replacement re-scheduled for today. Because I'm still waiting for my insurance replacement, they can't do a replacement for the N82 unless I send it back and 're-upgrade'. I say insurance replacement for my old phone, but it's actually a fault replacement apparently.
I think the confusion lies in the '7 day to decide' period. I didn't think I would get my old one replaced, but guy in faults said I should replace my old phone even though I was on for an upgrade because I'd be left phoneless if I decided to send my new phone back. I'm not even bothered about this replacement for my old phone if I had a working N82 but one of the insurance women made me feel like I was on the con!
I don't even know why I've actually got insurance now. Whenever in the past I've had a damaged or faulty phone, I've just got through to the insurance dept. and they've replaced it. Turns out, despite having 2 faulty phones (my old one and the N82) I've not actually used my insurance at all. I thought that's what I was using with my old phone, and the N82 should have been straight replaced as faulty. Me = confuzzled.
