Sum up your team's season!

To the Man Utd 'fans' saying we produced bad football, get real. Most goals scored, least goals conceeded, EPL and European Cup.

God yeah, we were shocking... Every team must wish they could perform as poorly as we have..

Edit- Plus you still haven't answered my question, if the Premier League isn't the world's strongest league what is?

.

Overall the spanish league is the strongest.

Put the spanish league up against the respective league finishes of the Premiership, and outside the top four place for place the spanish league would come out on top.

Outside of the top four the standard of football, (other than in fits and starts) is terrible.

Thats not what my first post says, go back and read it again.

"some" of the football.

Man city at home, Derby away, Tottenham away, Chelsea away, West ham away, Boro away..........

Theres more.

Manchester City at home was poor, I know, I was there.
Derby Away, we won.
Tottenham Away we were incredibly unfortunate to have not scored earlier than the 90th minute when Tevez equalized.
Chelsea Away was a calculated gamble, we rested our two top goal scorers and Rooney was carrying an injury, they got a late penalty and we should have had one earlier which would have likely made it 2-2.
West Ham Away we weren't that bad, we conceded from 2 corner kicks, but the rest of the play couldn't really be faulted.
Middlesbrough Away, the players didn't want to play in the snow, can't really defend it.

A lot of the times we were unlucky or simply unfortunate, had we had the right decisions at Portsmouth we would have almost certainly won the treble.

The worst performance of the season for me was Coventry in the Carling Cup, where we were awful.

But you said you were disappointed with the season, a season where we didn't lose a single game in Europe, where we won the EPL with the best defence, most goals scored, and we would have won the FA Cup most likely. I fail to see how someone can be disappointed with this season, that's all.

Spain is rubbish outside the top 4-5 and even those within the top 5: Atletico and Sevilla are miles behind Arsenal and Liverpool. Teams like Mallorca, Almeria and Santander are behind Blackburn, Portsmouth and Villa. Barcelona in the league were rubbish this season but teams still struggled to beat them at home.

I agree with Visionary, Spain isn't really too strong at all. It may be more competitive but that's not because the lower teams are better, but because the top teams are worse.

Then, if the prem is the best why are PL teams outside the top 4 not dominating the UEFA cup?
Why were spurs, Blackburn and Everton not crushing all before them beneath their sandaled feet?

OUTSIDE of the top 4 the league is as weak as it ever has been.

Some performances this season from us were absolutely stonking, namely:

-Newcastle at home. Six second half goals and the holy trinity at their very best. I had goose bumps at times during this game we were so good.
-Wigan at home. Complete non-starter first half, then Anderson makes his true debut and we run riot. This is the game which kick started our season.
-Villa at home. Ronaldo on fire.
-Arsenal away. At the time Arsenal were flying, and we went there and showed that they were nothing special. Unlucky to come away with just a draw.
-Arsenal at home (Cup). Second string team tore them apart.
-Bolton at home, only 2-0 but we were brilliant and should have scored 10.
-Portsmouth at home. Put the game to bed in the first few minutes.

However, we did have some dire performances as atbpx pointed out, perhaps a few too many. Season took a while to truly get going and we lost too many games. Lose 5 next year and I doubt we'll win the title. Arsenal bottled it and Chelsea wern't that amazing this year so luckily we could afford the 5 losses.

Next year we'll definately have to improve to win the league again, but this season wasn't too bad :)

And where were the Spanish teams? It was a Scottish and Russian team in the final.
German and Italian on top in the Semis...

English teams got just as far, Bolton had a bad season though so were always struggling, Everton had Arteta and Cahill out to injury as well.

In response to Ripper, let us not forget Ronaldo was suspended for 3 matches and Rooney got injured in the first game of the season, so our 2 major forward players were out at the start of the season.

Tevez and Anderson had no pre-season, Nani wasn't ready and Hargreaves was injured too. At the start of the season we had a lot of injuries and Ronaldo's suspension, people seem to have forgotten that.

3 English teams qualified from the groups as did 3 Spanish teams.

Getafe- Quarters
Villareal- Round of 32
Atletico- Round of 32

Everton- Round of 16
Spurs- Round of 16
Bolton- Round of 16

Also, 2 of Spain's teams ended in La Liga's top 4, whereas Everton: 5th, Spurs: 11th and Bolton: 16th, which may suggest it is difficult to compete in both the Premiership and Europe.

our teams dont dominate UEFA because none of them get a solid run year in year out at it due to the league being so competitive.
And usually the players are inexperienced or manager in terms of Europe.

Verey true - the performances against Man City really hurt though (maybe the anniversary played too much on their mind, but should it have?) and Derby away we won by a single goal, but I dont remember us being that fluid

In total however, its hard to criticise a team/club who win the double, but the silly losses /wins that turn into draws will have to be cut out if we are to equal Liverpool's league titles

Carling Cup was dreadful, but that was partly a selection problem (no real inspiration on the bench etc) and partly under expecting the opposition

Still annoyed about the cup game against Pompey but in the end it would have been impossible to play on the Saturday at Wembley and then Wednesday in Moscow (let alone for 120 minutes+)

(PS Seemingly Utd where the "home" team in Moscow, does that mean our unbeaten at home in 12 -well 13 incl final - CL games record includes the final?)

Team: Ipswich town
Prediction: didn't care as long as we finished above the Norwich
Finished: 8th (We did!) :D

I thought our home form was Awesome this season (best for some years) though Away we were total pants!

Must do better away next season if we plan on going up/into playoffs, Seriously though I'd rather see us have a good season in the CH than be hammered every game in the PL.

My team: Blackburn Rovers
Pre-season prediction: By me? Top ten
Actual result: 7th

Not a bad season, apart from going out of all 3 cup competitions early.

I've always said for a club of Blackburns size/support we should be happy with a top ten finish, and this season was no different.

A little disappointed that we could've finished in the Intertoto cup, but based on our league performance after most european games, i'm not too bothered!

Next season : Top ten again!
