Sum up your team's season!

Team: Everton

Prediction: 6th

Actual: 5th

This season has panned out for me how I expected it. I wanted to see us have some good cup runs which have eluded us for far too long. I particularly wanted us to do well in the UEFA cup to prove to me that Moyes could cope with European football. He passed this test with flying colours. A great run in the UEFA cup which we were very unlucky to go out on pens to Fiorentina and I cant help but think it should have been us lifting that trophy tonight. Carling cup run was great also reaching the semi's but the game fell at a time that was no good for us with some of our top performers at the African nations. Finishing 5th in the league 5 points clear of 6th is a good reward on what could have been a great season. Moyes bought fantastically well again and has got us playing some really attractive football. The first 45 minutes against Arsenal at Goodison is the best we have played for 20 years. If we could stretch that to 90 minutes and 38 games there is no reason why we could not be within the top 4.

Next season our priority is beginning to beat the top 4 teams which we didn't do all season. In David Moyes we have one of the best managers around and the board needs to back him. If this happens great times cold well be ahead for our great club once more.

I could not have put it any better myself COYB

Poor state of football in this country? The Premier League is the best league in the world, football is terrible all the world over if you mean that.

The Premier league ISNT the best in the world.
The top 4 may be some of the best teams in europe, the rest of the teams are a long, long way behind.
Beating one of the top 4 once or twice a year out of 8 games does not mean you are a competitive side.
United at times have been so bad its been embarrassing.

thats a matter of opinion, best could be taken as most entertaining, showcase of talent, one containing the best top clubs etc.

EPL is generally dubbed BEST because our top4 are so strong. Which other league can you say has a top4 capable of beating ours?
With liverpool as the lowest finishing top4 team in our league routinely downing the biggest european teams every season I think that points towards ours been the best league.
You cant really expect the best league to be judged on the average skill level of the clubs contained within the league.

The Premier league ISNT the best in the world.

What is then? Both Serie A and La Liga are really weak beyond the top 4/5 teams like Everton, Villa, Tottenham, Blackburn are better than Sampdoria, Udinese, Mallorca, Santander and Almeria. The Premier League is easily the best league in the world.

Man U.

Cant remember what i predicted probably second.

Although United did the big double, I am disappointed with the season.
Why?
Because over the course of the season they played in some of the worst matches and put in some of the most gutless and pathetic performances I have ever seen.
Its a testament to the poor state of the football in this country that united were able to win the league with some of the "football" that they vomited out.

What i want from next season is when it looks like its going wrong for someone to actually make some changes.

It's true, at times this season we were shocking, not as bad as Chelsea but they were grinding out the results, Something we forgot to do at times
Perhaps I'm not alone in thinking we've been the worst team to win the league for a few years then.

Are they?

What sides put Spurs and Everton out of the Uefa Cup this year.

I predicted us to win a CL spot and hopefully reach the CL semis so I guess we exceeded my expectations.
I never thought we'd push so close in the 2 main competitions though so big credit to the character of the players.
I didn't think we'd go so far mainly down to the fact that pre and early season we were absolutely crap in front of goal and that didn't change and had it done so we would possibly have gone further.
When JM left my hopes took a nosedive of course but again the spirit of the players kept us going.
Grant did his best but as anyone who's watched his team play every week will tell you that he just doesn't have the tactical genius needed to outwit other top class managers when things get tough so it's no surprise he had to go, you can't knock his record of course but cluenessness in tight situations will never edge a team above other great teams.

Man Utd cant have been that bad this season. They came out on top of all the teams in europe. Either that, or football in general has deteriorated, and i do not think that is the case.

To be honest that's not the best measure of how good a team are, Liverpool won it when they weren't even the best team in England;)

But they won that aswell as the Premiership - Which makes me think they are infact, the best team in europe. And no, i do not like them, i absolutely hate them. But credit where credits due.

Team: Swansea City
Prediction: Top 6
Finished: 1st

A superb season by the boys and the manager, winning the league by 10 clear points. Hopefully we will bring in some more decent players and can have a decent season in the championship.

What sides put Spurs and Everton out of the Uefa Cup this year.

Everton were knocked out by 4th placed Fiorentina, i.e. the equivalent of Liverpool (who are twice as good as Fiorentina) and 12th placed Spurs were knocked out by the champions of Holland.

Edit- Also, what is the best league then? If it isn't the Premier League it must be La Liga or Serie A so which one? Because Real Madrid were terrible this season really, and they still eased to the La Liga title.

.

Misleading.

This years 4th place was the highest fiorentina have finished in the past 6 years, they have finished 4th, 4th, 6th, 9th, 16th.

So about the same as Everton.

Holland also has one of the weakest leagues in europe as has been shown by their CL allocation, many believed last season that the dutch league was in turmoil, it was that bad.

Try again.

Real havnt been past the last 16 in champions league for 3seasons or something have they?

You are disproving your own point, Real have been terrible and won la liga easily, Barca were nowhere near and played united off the park in every sense over two legs of the CL semi finals beaten only by a wonder goal.

Barcelona raised their game for 2 games all season, they scraped past Schalke and if they had gotten a tougher game that round probably would've gone out. Roma who got no-where near beating Man U in reality, ended up knocking out Real as well.

Edit- Plus you still haven't answered my question, if the Premier League isn't the world's strongest league what is?

Also, to further prove my point, see Bolton this season, nearly relegated in the Premier League but managed to get to the quarter (or semi?) finals of the UEFA Cup.

everton done really well this season, just couldnt finish the push for champions league. I was dissapointed charlton couldnt bounce back up this year, or even make the playoffs.

rangers, well they done fantastic but it just came apart at the seams. a good season for footy fans all round with the epl and spl going to the last day of the season and british clubs in both major finals. cant complain really.

barca hardly played united off the park.
Im a liverpool fan and im fairly sure man utd had spells of running riot, and neither team particulaly deserved an outright win in either game.
It was also a poor performance by man utd, so you cant really big up barca for matching up to them.

They were utter dreadful in both matches.

You can have it this way, or i gloat at another league title and being the best team in europe.

I'd prefer the truth over gloating though.
