Age of Conan

The thing is that it does not really feel that massively multiplayer and more like Guild Wars with added extras. This may be due to it being heavily instanced and too simplistic for the old faithful dedicated long-term MMORPG players. These are the core players that any MMORPG needs to pay that £10 for years on end. These are the players that may not admit it, but have a need for grind and complexity.

I am sceptical that there is going to be enough new regular content and features introduced to warrant the £10 a month. It is early days so I may be completely wrong on this one. I do predict that in the future the subscription fee will be considerably reduced.
There's still a lot of people in each instance, and when the population in a particular area drops the extra copies are closed and you only have the one copy remaining. I quite like it tbh because it increases immersion: there's nothing sillier than having to queue up behind 3 other groups to kill a quest boss, standing around shooting the breeze waiting till he spawns. Imagine going through this epic, gruelling slogfest through dozens of tough mobs in order to get to a quest objective, arriving at your destination bloodied and bruised, exhausted and almost out of healing potions, only to find out that you have to sit around for 5' cause someone else just killed the boss you're after... :p Plus I'm on a PvP server so bigger crowds would just mean more feuding, less levelling!:D
One thing I disagree with you flat out though: grind does not equal complexity!

Anyone else think that today's patch notes are disappointing? :(

I'm getting pretty tired of basic things like running and feats being broken, personally.

Right now I dont think its worth the £10 a month, Ok i admit I'm coming heavily from a WoW perspective but this game just isnt compelling me to play it every time I have spare time, WoW did, UO did, I could put this down for a week and not miss anything. just doesn't feel right, I dunno, its not a specific thing I can put my finger on.

I really don't see the point of running. Sure it gets me around slightly quicker, but when using it against mobs they just seem to speed up too so it's not really usable against mobs. I'm guessing it may have a bigger effect in PVP, more stamina=longer running etc.

Running broken? how come?
If you put skill points in run speed it doesn't increase your speed, and likewise if you put skill points in endurance it doesn't decrease the rate at which you use up stamina. Then again pretty much none of the skills actually work if you put points in them, with the exception of maybe climbing, and I've heard you only need to put one point into hiding for it to be effective so I am going to be trying this later on my barbarian.

I believe that putting ability points in the 'increase running speed' option has no effect at all. It's hardly a game breaker though.
Gamebreaker or not, I am flabbergasted at how it passed QA, closed beta and early access. I am completely and utterly flabbergasted at how a lot of core functions of the game are broken (feats and stats for starters, what is an RPG without them?) and how there are still show-stopping bugs in the Tortege quests.

Uh, why not just put points into it and test it yourself instead of listening to what 12 year olds are telling you on forums (which almost certainly none of them have tested for themselves either)? 100 points = around 1% speed increase, the higher level and the more points you can sink into it the faster you can go.

I did try it for myself. And not all the forum users are "12 year olds", just a vocal minority of whiners.

100 points = around 1% speed increase, the higher level and the more points you can sink into it the faster you can go.
So you get a maximum of 8% speed increase if you use 800 points... Good investment...

Care to explain how this is even remotely working as intended?

its enough to run people down. What exactly do you want it to do, make you run 400mph?
I expect it to give me a decent speed boost if I am going to spend that many points on it, especially if I also have to put points in endurance if I want it to last a reasonable amount of time. An 8% speed boost, for about 5 seconds, at a cost of 800 points, is obviously not working as intended.

As with most MMORPGs this game will live or die on the strength of it's guilds, I know my guild have a heck of a lot of people in this game at the moment (50-60), I'm not there yet but will be soon I hope!
