Age of Conan

ok is the consensus that this is a good un? Ive been burned by MMORGPS before (Vanguard :( )

hows the lag?
stuttery fps? popup scenery?
how big is the install?

also i only have 2 gig ram and a 7900GTX medium settings smooth possible? Ive avoided reading this thread because ill just get tempted to get it like i was with Vancrap.

Whats important for me is *atmosphere* how does it feel?

What do you like best about it?

thanks :)

Have had a couple of 3-5 second 9000ms spikes, nothing major.

Everything on high, 4xAA, 4xAF, 1650x1050. FPS seems great, might turn AA up.

MASSIVE

Kinda dark, gritty, like a dystopian version of our world rather than proper fantasy. Which works, as I always found it somewhat stupid that in other MMOs all these tiny little villages populated by lvl 5 NPCs survive in the middle of a wilderness with hundreds of lvl 25 monsters wandering around trying to eat everyone that passes through. Here there's a bit of a story around each setting, eg. the Cimmerian village is under siege by invaders, that kind of thing. It substitutes a seamless world with a series of vignettes. Very true to its pulp fiction origins, lots of big-breasted NPC ladies desperate for your help and so forth.

One thing I DON'T like is that, while the zones are huge and beautiful, with lots of hidden nooks and crannies, tempting you to explore them, everything has a quest leading to it, and if you don't have the quest you don't get the reward for going there. So if I go and discover the lair of this boss and manage to kill it, it's not gonna drop the quest item associated with it, so if I get the quest later on, it's a bit frustrating to have to go again. I know this is the case with most MMOs, but in some of the others the devs also put a few little secrets not associated with specific quests, so that exploration for its own sake is rewarded. Here, so far, I haven't found anything that doesn't have a quest leading to it, though it could be that I haven't looked hard enough.

Definitely the combat, it's fast-paced and requires the game to be engaged rather than being on autopilot! :p Killing dozens and dozens of ordinary mobs can of course get boring, but group-based stuff can be pretty brutal, and even 1 person not paying attention can get you wiped. At least respawn rates are quite slow, so even if you do get wiped you usually don't have to fight through absolutely everything you've already killed to get back to where you were. I'm really looking forwards to doing some proper team-based pvp when I get closer to max level.
Also, fatalities just DON'T GET OLD! EVER! There's not that many animations but they still make my mouth hang open every time! :p

Word, triple face club is probably my favourite, and to hear the skull cave in, then beating the mushy pulp.

If you fill in payment details it won't charge you until your free 30 days are up. Hope this helps. :)

Did anyone purchase this from the purple shop? They were giving away mammoths with the game and I was wondering if you get the 8-slot bag too?
