All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

Yeah, we'll miss an overpaid, over theatrical, cheating, bad attitude, clumsy player like Drogba . One good season from four isn't good enough. People seem quick to forget he couldn't hit a barn door in his first two seasons.

Yep.

Hes a good player, no doubt, but similar to ronaldo a couple of seasons a go, his skill is overshadowed by his diving, although ronaldo is tidying it up a little.

Sick of this Ronaldo stuff already, wish he'd just say whats happening and Utd can get back on track.

Hahaha

I love your defence of the guy.

On his day he's one of the most lethal strikers on the planet but he has too many bad points too.

Just the 50 goals?
Ronaldo got 42 this season alone and he's not a striker. 50 goals in 4 seasons. Ronaldo got 69 in 2 seasons.

See my point?

I get the impression that shaffaaf27 is a big Drogba fan....;).
(btw, great idea on the specs thread thing :)).

I do think that Drobga is a good player, but somehow i question the longevity of his career at the top.
He's nearing 30 iirc and cant have more than a season or two of top quality in him. Shame he 'bloomed' so late on.

please for gods sake some one ban nokkon from talking about ronaldo its getting quite sickening.

Im surprised ronaldo can sit down with all the ass kissing he gets.

Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, but massively over-rated. Sure, he's great at winning headers, but his finishing isn't exactly deadly. He's had 2 top class seasons since we've known about him, one in France and his third season at Chelsea.

He'd be a good signing at Milan though to play in a triangle with Pato and Kaka.

Hmm.
I think your right there. With Pato playing off him and Kaka feeding the balls, he could become quite good. But i dont think he'll sign for one, and personally, i'd prefer Eto'o. :p.

He named the Chelsea star, I named the Man Utd star. I would have mentioned Torres or Adebayor, but they've only had one real season (2 for Adebayor, but he didn't get the action with Henry in the team).

So Ronaldo was the only logical comparison.
However, 50 goals in 4 seasons for Drogba, hasn't Rooney scored more?

There you go, there's another player.

I mentioned Ronaldo because it was on topic as a comparison, did you want me to mention the goal scoring exploits of Brian McBride or Stewart Downing instead? Incredibly I named this seasons top goal scorer and last seasons top scorer for Man Utd in a goalscoring comparison. *shock*.
You just make yourself look very foolish saying stuff like this. Sit back, read what I say and use an ounce of common sense (if you have one) and you'll see my point.

thankyou BoomAM :)

and nokkon, drogba and ronaldo are differnt players.

compare drogba, to a player that plays liek drogba, in the drogba position.

ronaldo has had 161 (66)

hes had longer in the prem to adjust, and coming here young is more f a benifit, then when your set in your ways.

and being a new striker in the prem, is always harder than being a winger.

this year ronaldo has had freedom over the pitch, but then compare that when he was a winger, didnt score much did he? (and right fully so)

once drogba got his rhythm last year, he was superb, he can defendwell (clear with headers) can attak the ball, hold up brilliantly, is strong on the ball, can strike from much anywhere in the top third of the pitch. then this season, he got injured, AFN etc. last year he had shevchenko to work off, and with a 442, he worked brilliantly. he need somone that he can hold the ball for. this year, with it being 443 and lamp/ballak not pushing up to help him, left hiim by himself up front. who was he to hold the ball up?

Coming over younger helps? Not really.. young players tend to lack the confidence for the premiership. Took ronaldo a while to adjust too.

We've all said Drogba is good, one of the best in his role on form, but he dives like hell. He'd be good at a club like AC, but he goes down far too easy, which is annoying.

And Rooney is a completely different player to Drogba.

Stop protecting Drogba, we know hes good, but if you cant see that he dives, then you're blind.

Okay, I'll compare him to Nistelrooy? Came to the league at a similar age, was also a striker. He scored more goals including 44 in a season.

nistelroy sat in the damed goal. :D

yes he dives, i know that, you know that, blind people can see that.

i was only joking when defending his diving.

yes hes not the best player in the world, yet i will defend him, dont ask why, i dunno, but i will.

In the Premiership Drogba's got something like 50 goals from 87 starts in his four years at Chelsea and has countless assists.

He's not a goal poacher like Van Nistelrooy and offers far more to Chelsea than just goals or at least he did before he started kicking off.
