Yes i know, but it just doesn't make sense to me! How can a 150% increase shader power give just a 20% in overall performance? Nvidia increased their shaders by 70% and got ~60% increase in game.
Maybe ATI have redone their SP's to be very weak as shaders but still capable ALU's. In the end it doesn't matter if it has 800 or 480 as we know the performance level of the 4850 and it's a 8800gt, not a GT200 competitor.
Because the VLIW architecture is very inefficient but massively scaleable and hence the reason they've managed to get that amount of SP's and still have a decent yield.
