9800GTX to get a new performance driver

If this is true, its f-ing ****** tbh.
How corrupt can a company be to hold back the 'power' of a gfx card to then release a magic driver that boost's its performance, when essentially its always been there.
Its not the 'performance/cost' race that will cause Nvidia to loose any market share.. its crook like tactics like this that will drive away any supporters.
Btw i'm not an ATI fanboy as i have an 8800GTS 512mb. I will be happy with the boost if its true but will look to reconsider my next gfx card brand.

fudzilla??? :p

anyways its probably the usual "increase performance by reducing image quality" trick we seen on many occasions by nvidia

1. Too much of a coincidence so close to ATI launch.

2. You can't get something out of nothing unless you make compromises elsewhere.

ATi drivers = Monthly with performance updates....

NVidia = Once in a blue moon :p So I would like to think we deserve some performance updates too all rolled into one! haha!

Yea what a joke if true. You buy a card you expect it to work to full potential and not wait for performance down the line or expect them to hold anything back..

The last time this happened textures were missing in Crysis.

I'm sick of NVIDIA and their sly tricks and digs at ATi tbh and going to try to avoid buying hardware from them in the future.

You never know, they could have been working nonstop and managed to find a new technique to boost the cards power

maybe so but who really knows, its only the top dogs who will deal with this, not the average joe employee. im thinking that there must still be potiental in the g92 yet. just they released it early (how many people here were pounding them for 8800gt's, pretty much the best cards released in a long time)

I'm finding this "fact" very dubious... sorry but to suddenly find a load of G92 performance from no where? Sorry, 7-8 months after the G92 was released just seems BS to me

Its very possible as they havn't released any drivers have they, the 8800 GTS 512mb has only had 2x driver sets since it came out, and which were around 5 months apart, the 169.21's being the first last December which just added support for them (no performance boost) and the latest 175.16's, it takes a lot more than 1 driver to get the full performance out of a new card, if they were like ATi, and released a driver every month, then this performance level they are babbling about would have been reached and passed months ago. :)

NV have been doing this for years

i remember first hearing about this tactic when they brought out some "magical" drivers for the GF3 that made it overtake the newly released radeon 8500

basically nvidia were scratching there hairyballs ati came up with idea and shot one nvidas balls off and now all nvidia fatboy scouts(150 kg +) running around zomg we have to start to make drivers

Ahaha, I know, hypocrisy is funny isn't it? I say, who am I to complain about free performance increases? The more the better!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL your one to talk, when you got the 2900xt you were always saying how new drivers will guarantee to increase its performance. you used to spread that all over this forum, and now look at you

well not true as when ati released the cards and they always want to increase performance of the cards with drivers that come regularly out not like nvidia they increase / make drivers only when they get pushed in corner by different company. so basically nvidia could not be give a dam to make drivers at all.

not like ati making them constantly to try and make costumers happy

so as its stands now we see that nvidia does not give a dam about its customers as this driver would not even be released if not ati.

not like ati in other hand always trying to make costumer happy and up the date

Yea I hope you got ****** off with your 2900XT waiting all that time for new drivers to improve performance, that did NOT work to full potential at first, it was something like 8 months after.

there is increase in 2900xt and there still is people using them and they happy with it but i upgraded to two 3870xt's as i wanted more performance
