9800GTX to get a new performance driver

Yea I hope you got ****** off with your 2900XT waiting all that time for new drivers to improve performance, that did NOT work to full potential at first, it was something like 8 months after.

i cant believe tom would make a statement like he did above. he was the main guy who joined onto the ati beta driver gang and was always touting new catalyst driver to bring more performance. and it brought jack. very silly of him making the above statement, not everyone has forgotten his antics just yet. :p

Come on, in the thread with the new catalysts everyone is praising the 35% increase here its getting torn to shreds

As ATi are producing drivers that increase performance every single month, where as Nvidia just do a performance boost once every 5-6 months, as they only release 1 single driver in that time if your lucky.

suits me i guess, ati got too many problems with thier drivers that they need to sort stuff out every month, with nvidia just slap on the latest drivers and carry on gaming for a good few months. i like it when a driver update brings with it a lot of difference. not just some icon changes.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL your one to talk, when you got the 2900xt you were always saying how new drivers will guarantee to increase its performance. you used to spread that all over this forum, and now look at you

Drivers matured over time is a different case to INTENTIONALLY holding performance back like NVIDIA seems to have been doing.

What don't you get?

You disappear off these forums then come back when new cards are about to be released to troll and cause trouble. Shame forum is spoilt with the likes of you.

you got no clue at all about pc hardware pal, you intentionally sabotage people with inferior hardware, look what you did to willhub, even since you got him to get the 2900 he has never been the same:

then you post saying this:
Yea what a joke if true. You buy a card you expect it to work to full potential and not wait for performance down the line ....

and not too long ago you were doing exactly this, posting how the 2900 is the gtx killer and you kept on posting how newer drivers will make the card better and telling all punters who bought the 2900 to stick with it. and in the end you ended up getting a gtx making yourself look like a right fool. and now you have the stupidity to post telling everyone to do the complete opposite to what you were doing a few months back.

if anyone has ever shot themselves in the foot, youve blown both of yours off. :p

Missing something?

You've had the same machine for years, I've had around 5 cards just this year. My experience is better than yours therefore saying I don't have a clue is making yourself look daft.

I can see I'm hitting a nerve as your replies look to be trying to dig more and more dirt on me.

Enough of feeding the troll for me it's back to the ignore list for you :D

the machine in my sig is still my main work machine, but as most folks know that i use a different setup for gaming.
but you dont look at a mans machine to judge his knowledge of the field.

i drive a better car than the mechanic down the street. does that mean i have more knowledge than him on cars?

No but he may have had more cars and messed with the mechanics of many different cars the point I'm making but you miss all the points I make anyway so better just agree to disagree Mav. You ignore me I ignore you we'll get on just fine :D

i thought you had me on ignore? you do this every time, you say your gonna ignore me but you dont. wise decision, never ignore the truth otherwise you well, lets just leave it at that. ;)

I think what people get fed up about nvidia they don't do hardly anything until ati release something like 2900/3+++/ and now when the 4*** is getting released,at least ati try and do monthly updates.
Nvidia have more likely held back drivers why would they want to improve their 8*** when they trying to sell their flagship cards when some benchmarks are close to each other anyway.
I do think 280 is a good card ( not sure about the 260 as i think the 4870 will put a lot of pressure on the 260)but i will not spend that much on one as i not gaming that much as i spend too much time on those forums .

thing is why shoudl it always be nvidia pushing up front. why dont ati take the lead for once and release thier cards first and beat nvidia with superior hardware. no point bashing nvidia when ati are equally if not more to blame for slow progress in gfx card technology.

From the 9700 Pro up to the X1950 XTX ATi were very competitive with high-end GeForce cards performance wise a lot of the time. R600 was just a slip up, they'll recover.

R600 was the start of ATi's new architecture. They learnt quite a bit from it and with the architecture maturing they've really only just started to get the performance they wanted out of it.

Good to see it at last.

Because first 4 months of my 320 i hardly had any good drivers for my hdtv ( just before the 2900 came out)even now it is a lottery if the new drivers work or don't break something so why shouldn't i, and yes i had my tv worked fine on my ati card before the 320.
So far a i am concerned nvidia can take a running jump if i was using my 21" crt then maybe it would have been better.
I always said love the hardware but drivers are crap

This.

If Ati's latest offering hadn't threatened Nvidia's range of cards i doubt we would have seen a 'magic' driver which boosted performance by 30 odd %. Thats the point he's trying to make and i agree.

question will this driver actually even surface? or was that site making a mistake and was actually referring to a new card, the 9800gtx+ offering the additional performance.

the g80 and g92 being as fast as it already is i just cant see it getting any quicker at all on a driver front.

if anything the new driver that touts more speed is probably got the gt200 series cards.
