Ninja Gaiden II

Swimming underwater has always bugged me in these games, probably why they put the spear guns in to make the combat in the water not get in anyone's way. But the nimpo on water animation more than makes up for it.

I have manged to miss the 5th and 6th vaolour tests though, not sure which levels they are on. Around chapter 7, 8, 9 i guess. But i have done all others up to 9th test which was particularly difficult.

There's one per level from level 3 onwards till chapter 11, so the ones you missed will be on levels 7 and 8 :)

Valour tests are the same as the fiend challenges from the first game. You need to get the Rod of Trials from Chapter 2 (outside the building where you get the Talon's Claws, a boat load of enemies show up, stay there till you kill them all). When you have the Rod, you'll see glowing circles of energy in each level, usually right next to a save point. If you choose to do and complete each test, you'll receive a reward, which may be a Lives of a Thousand Gods, Jewel of the Demon Seal, or Talisman of Rebirth. Oh, and an achievement as well, so well worth doing :)

But where do you find/activate them? I remember coming across these in the NJ1, but don't remember finding any when I played it through on acolyte.

I am currently on chapter 5 I think, playing through on warrior, but have not come across any still.

Oh crap, I seem to have missed this twice now somehow. So I would have to go back to chapter 2?

I think I just realised where I made a mistake. I remember that piece, and I remember thinking the enemies were just coming and coming, and that perhaps I was meant to move on. Have done that twice now.

So at this point, I am supposed to just keep killing and killing until they stop?

Am defo going to have to play this at least one more time now....

Just completed it on Way of the Warrior. It was actually incredibly easy. Aside from the fact that I was just better at the game, I accumulated a ridiculous amount of items to heal myself. I think I had 3 x thousand lives of the gods, 9 of the life of the god orbs and that thing the old guy gives you which heals everything to full. All of that ontop of the normal herbs, talisman of rebirth...etc. It was a cake walk.

Also got 29/30 skulls, don't know where the hell the last one is.

I unlocked the Dark Blood costume for completing it on Acolyte, now I've just unlocked the Type 20 costume for completing on Warrior. Nope you don't have to find them you just get the option to choose your costume when you start a new game and when you load a save game.

Just finished the game. Last boss done my head right in! Took about 12 attempts, only had one Thousand Lives of Gods left to help me. He was the only boss i struggled on as it took me a while to figure out a method :D

It was a worthy rental. The gameplay was always there but graphically some levels early on are completely bland looking. New York and Venice being prime examples. I actually thought the game got better looking the further it went on.

Think i'll return to Sigma on the PS3 when my other games dry up. :D

ok help, i'm stuck!

on chapter 10, following the path and theres what seems to be a jumping bit which i cant get past, its right at the start, near a bit where bit where there are 2 chests at the bottom.

i've tried everything combination of wall-jumping/running i can think of to get across and its annoying me now because i cant.

Should just be a wall run, with a jump at a certain point to get to the second "half" of the wall, if you're where I think you are..

a wall like this?

sorta? :p

heh sorta yeah. its following the path up, do a simple wall run then its the next jumping bit you come to, there seems to be a pillar in between the wall so:

which seems to stop dead any wall running i try, i even try a wall run into flying swallow to zip myself across ..no joy there :(

I give up on this game, it just feels like the game is trying to kill you at times. I consider myself a pretty good gamer, I never had any problems completing DMC4 but the fact that I can't do the easiest game mode on this game shows how badly the game is designed. Just started Chapter 8, right at the beginning when you get to the main square you get attacked by three robots.

There machine guns seem to stun you so you can't move, attack or do anything
All there attacks seem to damage you, EVEN IF YOU'RE BLOCKING
They seem to track you even if you are jumping and dashing around like a looney
There are rocket guys who are firing at you, again they damage you even when you are blocking

I just have no idea what to do, blocking and dodging seems to be utterly useless in this game, there seems to be no way of telling what attacks are blockable and what aren't, and somehow enemies seem to track you even when you're dodging, especially with ranged attacks.

Does anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong? It feels a shame to trade it in half finished :(

Ther rocket launcher guys are a pain. Probably my least favourite enemy in the entire game.

Best thing to do is to run towards them, jump, fire and arrow while in air, and keep moving closer until you can slash him to bits.

With the machine gun turrets, press and hold "B" when you have bow equipped until it is fully "charged". One shot should destroy a turret. Blocking should work against them. Best to keep blocking and immediately after they have stopped use the arrows on them.

The trick with this level I think, is patience. Don't just run forward trying to take on everything. Move forward slowly so as not to have to take on more than a couple of enemies at a time.
