Who has the best army in the world?

The Royal Navy was the most powerful up until World War 2, apart from a few years inthe late 20s due to various treaties to limit naval power, which were scrapped inthe 30s and the Royal Navy became most powerful again...

powerful navy didn't makes us the most powerful nation in the world, especially when we wouldn't have the troops or ammo to do anything other than shell them.

Most powerful navy led to the largest empire the world has ever seen and is ever likely to see. I would say that gives more power than the 'fake' power of the USA....

Remember America had to be forced into WW2.

Look at the global reach the British had to fight in around the globe at the time...
 
Oh as for worlds most elite i forgot to mention russias spetsnaz troops.

They are proper hardcore and ruthless as hell. Only ever lost 4 troops in action i believe.

When the russians were in afghan they did some real damage

Back then though we had a full army to back it up after the first world war our economy and army were in tatters we couldn't have started a war if we wanted.
 
To all those thinking have millions more people = A better army, is wrong.

At least at one point, the army is totally dependant on logistics.
How the hell you going to invade another country when you have to cross the ocean, planes? Oh yeah I wonder how they'll get that many across, or boat before being another mess on the bottom of the ocean.

Then the ammunition and weapons for all of them across.
Food.

Etc etc.
