Who has the best army in the world?

thought as much, could probably depend on the Scandinavians (ell someone them) for a bit of help up north, and the IRA alone could probbably keep a land invasion of Ireland tied up for a hell of a long time.

When you see the damage the people in Iraq/Afghanistan can do, imagine how much the old IRA pro's with weapons/explosives supplied by the army could do.

Within a week it would probbably be illegal to have drainpipes :p

^ Not at all.

/Facepalm

The French battlegroup under the Carrier Charles De Gaul. (heap of ****)

The Spannish battlegroup under Principe de Asturias.

Italians have Giusseppe Garibaldi carrier heading their fleet.

All of the above including the UK are awaiting the arival of new carriers for their fleets.

France canceled their order for carriers didn't they, and isn't their current carrier almost constantly in dock, for repairs?

How big/capable are the others?

No it is still on time afaik.

Yes, medium sized.

Not very, other than the Spannish and huns.

The germans still are modorate I suppose.. again their war ethos have to be questioned now in light of 'ze war' and if they'd actually take any action:

Frigates
3 Sachsen class anti-air frigates
4 Brandenburg class multi purpose frigates
8 Bremen class multi purpose frigates
Corvettes
5 Braunschweig class corvettes
Fast Attack Craft
10 Gepard class fast attack craft
Mine Counter-Measure Vessels
5 Ensdorf class minesweeper, drone guidance
5 Kulmbach class (Type 333) mine hunter
10 Frankenthal class (Type 332) mine hunter
1 clearance diver support vessel M 1061 ROTTWEIL
18 Seehund ROV (remote controlled drones, 2 men crew only for transit) part of the TROIKA PLUS system together with the Ensdorf class minesweepers

[edit] Submarines

their woman pm is a big more gun ho, she gave permission for the navy to fire outside of self defense a while ago.

Still if we ever went on a full war, I'd partially want the Germans there as they are excellent solider, but also wouldn't because they seem to be bad luck for their side.

New French carrier has been put off for a long time. Decision not due until 2012 now, and most think it will either be cancelled, or they will buy a carrier off the shelf from us (the so called 3rd carrier that Britain may build), although national pride may not allow that.

The carrier they were building was using UK plans anyway, I doubt it will be shelved indef.

We don't have anything off the shelf they can have.

There is talk that British shipyards could build a 3rd carrier after the 2 Queen Elizabeth class carriers are built, to be sold to the French. Not quite "off the shelf", but near enough!

Have just been hearing that since the forced resignation of 2 top brass at the USAF, there is growing talk of stopping production of the f22, scaling back the JSF, and looking at the tanker programme also!

Could be interesting.

Over the live nuclear warhead tranport without anyone realising thing?

the tanker I can see purely because they like to keep things in the states.

But considering how devastating the F-22 has been in trials I can;t see why they would want rid of it.

Michael Wynne, the Secretary of the Air Force, and General T. Michael Moseley, the Chief of General Staff, stepped down last week, prompting speculation that key projects could be scrapped.

Robert Gates, the US Secretary of Defence, asked for their resignations after a number of blunders, including the accidental shipment of ballistic missile fuses to Taiwan and the flying of live nuclear weapons across the United States in a B52 bomber. Analysts believe that the departures of Mr Wynne and General Moseley have put a number of USAF projects in doubt, such as the continued production of the F22 Raptor, the world's most sophisticated fighter.

Mr Gates has questioned the need for the F22 - which costs more than $150 million (£76.9 million) per aircraft - given that it has not been used in either Iraq or Afghanistan.

Mr Gates's apathy towards the F22 may provide the Europeans with an opportunity. If the F22 assembly line is to be shut down, the Eurofighter Typhoon will be the most advanced combat jet in production, giving it a key marketing edge. If Japan, which is lobbying in Washington to buy the F22 as part of a $15 billion upgrade of its air defences, realises that the F22 will never be available, it may turn to the Typhoon.

Like the C130J who in the hell thinks of using composite when your going to have to do rough landing strips.

The finance part who use the military funding as on hell of a research project for their composite wing civil aircraft :p Got to agree, not to mention the bespoke buttstraps for each AC. as the cover and leading edge D nose vary in thickness so much across the span. So rather than having a stock of generic spare parts if they need a replacment it will have to be machined one off.... hows that for battle readiness?

Did anyone see the rare video footage of SAS/SBS at the Taliban prison uprising? Have a search on youtube, Qal a Jangi or something. Anyways, a small group suppressed hundreds of taliban then called in air strikes. Sadly on of the guys died during a holiday in Greece :(

Green Beret and Northern Alliance troops were also heavily involved in that.
