age of conan or world of warcraft?

I've played little else since WoW's release. Still load up the likes of CSS every now and again keep my hand in so to speak.

If you DO look at WoW, play the free trial and start a human melee (I cant really speak for horde - I found the tauren the most appealing and their start area is pretty good too)character (rogue or warrior as paladin is rather unrewarding in later levels) with 2 gathering professions (pick 2 from mining, herbalist and skinning, i'd recommend mining and skinning).
You will find it generally easier to level and get a feel for the game with more armour and a "run up and hit things" approach.
The human start area is generally one of the more polished and has the least clutter in the way of moving around to quest area's etc.

I know a lot may disagree with the above, tis my opinion. The rogue is probably the easiest class in the game to level though and the warrior (so long as you keep your gear in shape) is also a powerhouse, if you take the warrior and learn to tank you will also ALWAYS be wanted for group work, groups = making friends = more rewarding playing experience.

If/When you come to play "for real" get the battlechest as it's generally £5 saved over the 2 seperately (see it for around £18 in the likes of zavvi/virgin megastore) and roll a draenai or blood elf. The new starting area's for these races they added in the expansion are VERY highly polished. The quests flow nicely and push you into the right areas and make doing several quests at once easilly.
(eg: Quest 1: Go west and scout the area, Quest 2: Over that hill to the west kill me some bears, Quest 3: I could really use some bear skins. The other start area's do it well but it was really refined for the expansion).

I think the easiest classes for solo'ing is Hunter and Warlock, though Warlock is a bit more complicated I think.

Also I advise you do not roll a Druid, they are hell to level but really start to get better at level 20, I hated leveling my Druids from 1-20, it's hell every time...love the class though.

Good point actually on the hunter. It's a class I could never get into but it's probably the best solo class in the game. Warlock I found to be lacking something, not sure, I think I just don't really get on with caster classes.

Druids i'd recommend as a second or 3rd character to level. As far as options go they are easilly the most versatile class in the game. Tank, melee dps, ranged dps and healer. That's everything basically. They take a bit to get your head around tho :)

If you want some cool monts go for WoW if you want some boring horse go for Aoc,

Vot! AoC has woolly mammoths! and Rhinos! And they look like god dam siege towers! Far far better than anything wow has to offer.

also the way of getting gold in AoC is a reall joke atm,

Also i dont get this, why is it a joke? I call wow gold a joke since all people do now a days is buy it for real money. The economy in wow is offically ****ed

Com'mon man, get it right.
And dont have a go at me for being a AoC fan boi, all you need to do to see my neturality is read my previous posts.

And if anyone thinks wow pvp is better than AoC then watch the video. Takes pvp to a whole new level. (i got the video from the AoC thread)

I managed to go cold turkey for about 4 months, then someone dragged me back in again, i went from not even having it installed to killing Twins in the same day :(

Help me.

Any nice loots? :D

Be happy to drop that smug half-elf ***** atm but the summer lull is laying waste to my guild (any most others on the server) :(
Oh well, hopefully time between august/sept when ppl are back inside and playing more and wraths release to get it sorted. Stuck on bloodboil atm.

I have yet to level a Huntard all the way but the last char I leveled to 70 was my Lock, such an easy class to level, with Affliction spec pulling 5 same level mobs at a time is just so easy, with the right talents you'll get full hp/mana back at the end of it!

That's what I love about Dr00ds, I made my first about 4 weeks ago, I rerolled with some people to form a new guild but they quit once I hit 51, so about 3 weeks ago I just made another and I'm Level 67 now. :D

Though healing as Feral spec on my Druid is pretty rough, the tanking and DPS is excellent though.

Errr we got the healing mace and a coupel of rogue/feral shoulders and some other bits and pieces, im amazed at how much loot bosses drop these days. Muru is rediculously hard btw.

i should have had a poll

keep AoC or take back for WoW.. though from the short time ive had with wow i cant seem to get into it like i am with runescape now, though it did take a while to get used to that also.

if i can level some skills in runescape kinda high im sure it wouldnt be much harder in AoC/WoW :p

There is a huge problem with the PvP vs PvE distinction. AoC has fleshed out raids and more coming, WoW has arenas that make up the game for a lot of people. So neither of the games are PvP/PvE-only, and that's really the completely wrong way to think about it.

WoW is great for group gameplay, if you get into a decent guild (or make one ! :) ) it can be a great game.

Been playing WoW now for 2 and a half years now and i must say i dont regret any of it great times have been had in that virtual world. Although what with WAR coming out soon my time may have to be spent playing both! .... I just cant leave WoW the people in my guild are awesome we have become a really tightly knit bunch of people. It's amazing the way relations with complete strangers can develop.

As you can guess by my experience I am going to be biased towards WoW. But it really is a good game once ya get into it :D

if you want pvp, wow. if you want pve, aoc.

Thats sooooo wrong.. AOC=PvP (on free for all server. It's pretty Brutal!!)
WoW=PvE. So much content.

I played wow for over 3 years and enjoyed pretty much all of it. The problem now is it's becoming dated, Wrath of the Lich King is due out soon which will keep people going for a while, but unless you're willing to put the hours in you can forget the high end content.

I now play AoC and have been since early access. I really enjoy it atm, it's very fresh and has some great ideas, but lots of bugs and issues regarding itemisation, content and class balancing. The player base seems to be generaly more mature and intelligent.
I play on a PvP server, and when they say PvP it's not like WoW's Alliance v Horde this is 'proper' PvP free for all, you can even kill your guild mates!

The thing you have to remember is that WoW is the daddy and has so much polish and content but is still a 4 year old game. AoC is new, fresh, looks beautiful but is still 'early days' so who knows if it will be around in a year or so?
Either choice would be a good one tbh, you won't be dissapointed which ever one you pick.

Why not try and get some buddy keys and try them out for yourself?

,

AoC= Tries to be more realistic (due to being based on a novel) so mounts tend to be Horse, Rhino and Mammoth.

WoW= Pure fantasy so no limitations on mounts.

Where can i get buddy keys for AoC? and i dont think you can even download a demo of it, im going to have to open it soon im pretty sure i wont be able to return it anyway if i leave it much longer lol.

By MMO standards WoW is pretty easy to get into.

What Race/class did you choose?

Didnt know if any particular race has an advantage over others, but i chose Warrior.

Dude...no.

Firstly WoW has a full PvP system already in place. You've got your honor system and world PvP/battlegrounds and its rewards, the arena system with matchmaking/competitive ladder, seasons and its seperate rewards.

WoW is undoubtably the most balanced PvP MMO out there, and the fact that arena has become an epsort is testament to this.

AoC doesn't have any of this, and on the whole its PvP has been a failure so far quite frankly.

well i like runescape, if thats even comparable at all

just hope i can get into it, i dont want play for maybe 5 mins and decide i hate it.. that would be a complete waste lol

btw if anyone wants to see my rs char its name is perfect_chao spent quite a while on it over a couple of years

I'm an ex member of runescape, spend about a year as a member, 2 years ago. Name: kalps2000 - lvl 86 ;)

Was a decent game but you do end up spending a lot of time on it.:D Ain't played WoW but sounds like a proper 3D verson of Runescape.

If I was going to try one of these two it would be WoW.
