All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

More daily mail tripe.

Two problems with that though, Spurs don't have to sell him, and Crouch doesn't want to come to Spurs he wants to go to Portsmouth. So, its either £20m cash (which they wont have after signing Barry) or there is no deal.

Personally, if it goes through then Berbatov will definitely leave. He has struck up a good friendship with Keane, and if rumours of him giving us 1 more season are to be believed it would be down to Keane being there. Let him go and its all over, regardless of who we sign as a replacement (rumoured to be Podolski).

Still, its always nice to see contracts are worth the paper they are written on.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich would apparently pay £85m for Fernando Torres if given any encouragement by Liverpool.

This is getting silly now, next thing you know Abramovich will be tempting Pele out of retirement, although I don't think he's good at keepie-uppies anymore :p

There's an easy solution to this problem. Sell crouch to Portsmouth for ~£15m, and pay Spurs that money plus extra for Keane. Ether way if he wants to play for another team I can't see much point in Spurs fighting it.

I don't watch Rooney every week like a few of you do but if his Man.U. performances are like his England ones then I can't see how he justifies a place.:)

That could be said of the majority of England 1st XI though :)

Those times are long gone (unfortunately)

Except for the fact Crouch isnt worth that, Pompey only reportedly willing to pay £8 or 9m and with less than 12 months on his present contract is probably only just worth that

Keane is better off where he is though - Liverpool are a better side but inconsitant in the league, will be chasing cup wins by December no matter what Rafa says at the start of the season. Keane will always be a bigger hero to the likes of Spurs than he ever will be at Anfield

I'll be gutted if Keane goes. He's a fighter and always gives 100% on the pitch. 3 Spurs player of the season awards in 5 years says it all. I can live with Berbatov going but not Keane as well.

We could be out of strikers soon and strikers aren't cheap to replace.

Yep. All have been linked with moves at some point this summer. Everyone expects Berba to go (although no concrete offers just persistent rumours, and they are running thin on the ground now though).

Bent is a surprise, but he clearly isnt favoured by Ramos and if we can recoup anywhere near half what we paid for him it might be worth taking.

As for Keane. Its a difficult one to call. He is a Liverpool fan and rumours are he has handed in a transfer request, but until it is actually an official bid being reported its rubbish. All the talk of Ronaldo going to Madrid, Ronaldinho to Man City, every tom d*ck and harry to Chelski rumours havent exactly materialised so I am not too worried at present.

As I said before, there are stumbling blocks and until Liverpool can prove they can get past these then there is no cause for concern. He is rated higher than Berbatov by many (Berbatov valued at £20-£25m), so would expect a huge fee (that only Chelski in England can afford) to be even worth considering, plus we have no reason to sell, which again puts us in a strong position, regardless if the player himself says he wants to leave.

As above, Crouch isnt worth that much money in the last year of his contract. He has publically said he only wants to leave for Portsmouth, so that leaves Portsmouth in a take our £9m or leave it scenrio, and Liverpool in a take £9m or we lose him to the same club at the end of the season.

£12mil seems to be the figure quoted. I'd be tempted to take it if we've got someone else lined up to replace him.

most of the stuff that makes the "transfer news" is then rubbished else where :/

I just heard like 15mins ago on setanta that lampard wont join jose this season but maybe next when its easier. Joses word's supposely

Nope. Henry is so far from his best now i don't think he'd add much.

EDIT

Plus it would be a shame to see his time at Arsenal tarnished by some new under par performances.

I certainly wouldn't, he still has a lot to offer but his style of play no longer fits in with ours and we need someone on more of a similar level to our players, before Henry was the superstar and the rest were just tagging along and making the numbers up and I wouldn't want that again. I think that would create disharmony within the squad. If Adebayor goes we will need someone similar again because his physical presence up top has been a great asset to us this season.

Forest sign French midfielder Guy Moussi and target Carlisle striker Joe Garner

Positive stuff that Forest are actually spending money after promotion. These two signings along with Rob Earnshaw and Anderson (season long loan from Liverpool) gives some encouragement that we are going in the right direction.

They are still after Andy Cole apparently who wants to be some form of coach as well. There was also talk of targeting Hieder Helgusson (sp?). Some more anoucements to come in the next few weeks I guess!
