*****The Official PS3 2.40 Firmware Discussion Thread*****

It seems the number of people with the problem are pretty low. Apparently on the gaf there is a poll of how many people have had their PS3 bricked. All 700+ are ok, zero bricks. Unlike updates that have caused problems in the past, I've not heard a single person that's actually had a problem with 2.4 yet.

So you haven't read this thread then?

Excellent, tried playing a disc based game after updating and it seems like my BD Drive is now fubar.

Although I suppose this may not be directly related to the 2.4 Firmware update.

I read on Kotaku that there is a way to get the PS3 "unbricked" but unfortunately it is formatting the harddisk and starting from scratch.

Is there a quicker way of reassigning controllers other than going through options, accessories? Les Paul always defaults as controller 1.

it seems to me like this has all been an elaborate plan to get everyone playing SSHD - and it's working - everyone on my friends list's playing it anyway.

Recon they'll release trophies patches for all their Downloadables one at a time, a week or two apart?

Mines is a US 60Gb and it seems to be fine. Although i do appear to be getting a lot of memory overflow errors when shutting down/exiting games.

As it turns out, it was to do with my whatever settings I had, the new firmware and the game. Although from reading the net it seems there are some people with non-functioning drives as a result of updating. Coincidence?

I fear something might be up with mine, updated to 2.4 yesterday.

I load MGS 4 from the xmb and the screen goes black and nothing happens (I have to turn the console power off at the back, power button/controller does not respond) But if I load MGS 4 up right away (From power on) it works fine

Hope this isnt the start of something bad, only just got the console :(

format hdd in pc, put in ps3, format on ps3, works fine. apparently.

ITs also something to do with an old update not updating the main BIOS number properly. so about 7% of ps3's are effected (launch US 60's, asia, some others)

hi guys

apparently there is a new 2.40 up for download ? , if there is or when there is will i be able to install even though i have the first 2.40 before they pulled it or am i fine as i have not had any problems yet.
