All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

The money doesnt add up at Liverpool to me.

Alonso = Barry if he comes (i sort of agree with this as it gives Lucas the chance to come through who is better than Xabi has been lately). BArry is left sided so great, works well and cover for middle and also can take a free kick which we will miss when JAR goes.

Carson + Crouch = 20mn for Torres partner

Pennant + Itandje + JAR + Kewell for free = plenty of salary and cash for Bentley who we are no longer linked with. So whats his plan for the right winger?

Dossena was 7mn though so that would have to be new cash. Off load Voronin and give Nemeth a go or Babel in striker role.

Its the history tbh, if the english clubs keep dominating for a few more years the tide will start to change, though our weather/culture is **** compared to spanish in most player's eyes.

Id hate to see us buy Milner...

Well, that is what i always thought, but then i watched this pepsi skill challenge once where loads of skilled under 20 players took part in a challenge. And they preferred Manchester to all the cities (these cities included Rio de Janero and Barcalona.)

Lol, the way Liverpool are going with all this selling and speculating buisness, they have NO CHANCE to even mount a fight for the PL this year.

Lucas - Too young, inexperiance, inconsistent
Barry - Youve gotta be kidding yourselfs, UEFA Player at best.
Pennant - Why sell him? good winger
Crouch - Impact player, hes going, but why?
Kewell - Gone...........good riddance
Xabi Alonso: Gone. Barry in for him lol. Alonso is better.
Who to partner Toress, Villa? youve gotto be joking, he wont leave Valencia, and if he does only to go with R.Madrid. Gerrard's getting fed up with the Kop now so it seems, hes giving it this season, and if u lot finish 4th or 3rd hes gone, barry and gerrard work well in the middle but they cant compete with man utd's central partnership nor can they compete with arsenal's or chelsea's (financially...........or as a squad) ATM your struggling and the posters can all make a happy face but you know that LFC are in the **** atm.

PS: Rafa's job is gonna be unstable this year and Tommie boy and Hicks cant get along......................disaster awaits.

Well if its true that the Crouch deal is 9m upfront I doubt you'll be getting anywhere near 11m for Carson.

It's unlikely that we'll pay 100% up front for whoever we sign to replace Crouch so we can budget the full £11m we're getting for him.

Carson's likely to leave for ~£6m which would bring the total we've made from him (after loan fees from Villa, Chalton and Wednesday) to around £10m, not bad for £700k.

Hicks and Gillett are now on speaking terms..
Lucas is inexperienced.. but hes already better than half the midfielders in premiership.
Barrys a great player... hes not world class.. but its not like you need a full team of world class?
Pennant isnt that great a winger.. his delivery is crap.
Crouch is hardly used, he doesnt fit the team anymore, with no decent delivery whats the point in having him? The money raised from sale could be better used.
Alonso better than Barry? You watched much football lately? Alonso was crap this season, when he was actually fit.

Alonso may have been rubbish this season but Barry hasnt exactly set the world alite, he had 1 good half a season, the rest of the season hes been useless to us. very inconsistent, if u sign him then u will know what i mean.

BBC website are reporting that Inter have opened negotiations with Chelsea for Lampard.

Inter Milan have opened negotiations to sign Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard, BBC Sport understands.

The Serie A club are believed to have sent a fax to Chelsea to begin the process of reuniting the 30-year-old with former Blues coach Jose Mourinho.

Earlier this month, Mourinho, who became Inter boss in June, said he did not expect to sign Lampard this summer.

The ex-West Ham star is into the final year of his Chelsea contract and is yet to commit his future to the club.

Reports on Monday suggested that the opening offer from Inter was £6.5m for Lampard, who is set to leave for free next summer.

606: DEBATE
Should Chelsea sell Lampard this summer?

The recent arrival at Stamford Bridge of Portugal central midfielder Deco, who was also courted by Mourinho and who has joined the Blues on a two-year deal from Barcelona, may hasten Lampard's exit.

There are also reports circulating that Chelsea striker Didier Drogba could be set for a reunion with Mourinho.

The Portuguese boss indicated in June that he would like to work with the Ivory Coast international again.

"I cannot forget Deco, Lampard and Drogba. These are players who I could never say no to," stated Mourinho.

"I would love to work with them again in the future but I am not too obsessed with this idea."

He added: "I don't know which of these three will leave their clubs but we will see."

If Mourinho bids for Drogba then he may face a fight for his signature from local rivals AC Milan, whose technical director Leonardo told BBC Sport that they are also keen on the forward.

£9m+ for Crouch is a great deal; likely to sign barry now :(, I doubt liverpool will concentrate on CL which barry really wants lol

To be fair guys - Gerrard and Masch are the best two central midfielders in the country. NO better partnership as only Lamps and Ballack could be argued better and Lamps is off (or so it looks).

Wings sure liverpool needs delivery. Ronaldo we havent got but Barry and Bentley would improve that for Torres and Kuyt/Villa/New striker.

Our full backs are better and we scored the most goals last year anyway, and kept the golden gloves. We are not as far away as you think.....

We haven't shown enough interest in buying a top quality winger imo, there's been talk of buying Milner and Bentley but I don't particularly want either of them. I'm warming to Rafa's new plan of buying proven Prem quality, Barry will be a decent replacement for Alonso and I'll be very pleased if we can get our hands on Robbie Keane, although that's looking unlikely.

I don't think we can challenge next year unless we bring in one or two top quality wide men as well as Barry and a decent striker.
