All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

I see Arsenal have signed 'the new Zinedine Zidane', get in there.
I can only hope he lives up to his predecessor, Bruno Cheyrou.

Are you being serious?

The only person that was doing busines via the press was O'Neil. Despite O'Neil's bs about the story being leaked by Liverpool to a local paper, it was actually proven to have come out first in a Birmingham paper. And when both managers were asked about it, Benitez refused to comment where as O'Neil was the one telling the press everything. And im pretty sure it wasn't Benitez on the BBC giving the press regular updates.

Im pretty certain that we tapped Barry up (i think it happens one way or another with 99% of deals these days) but to say we dealt with the situation in the press badly it utter rubbish. O'Neil is bitter because he's realised that he can't keep hold of his best players if the top4 come calling.

Where is your proof?

It was all over the national press that Benitez wanted to sign, intended to bid for, and wanted to speak to Gareth Barry before last season had ended. Only the most blinkered Liverpool fan would beleive otherwise.

As for the BBC comments (Both of them) i thought he handled himself quite well. Non commital, he wants to leave but they'll have to pay the asking price. What was he supposed to say? "Well he wants to leave so you can have him for peanuts"?

And we'll see who the top 4 are next season when you're playing a left winger with no pace :p

What are you talking about? Being all over the press that we were going to make a bid and a manager unsettling a player in the press are totally different things.

Benitez refused to comment on the deal untill O'Neil had told a room full of reporters about the bid. Bids are made for players all the time and the press will one way or another get involved but as i said above the only person that unsettled the situation by talking to the press (countless times) was O'Neil as he's bitter about losing his best player and not being able to do anything about it.

Personally i'd rather keep Alonso and leave you in the ****.

The guy that wrote the article in the Liverpool echo stated that he became aware of the bid from the story in some Midlands paper (can't recall what it was).

Surely Liverpool will use Babel as their left winger?

Looks like the main story on the back pages tomorrow is that Man Utd have bid £20M for Berbatov, with the deal expected to be completed in the next week.

I wondered when a rumour like that would crop up, it's been ages since anyone has mentioned Berba :p

Wenger to hijack the Barry deal as well apparently! Dunno what I think about that :S

WENGER POISED FOR ARSHAVIN!!
