Massive action game / MAG

This does sound like a good plan and always depends on the players to how good it will be, I for one would love to be able to charge omaha beach (as an example) with every player in defence and attack being controlled by a human (no time or space for nades there!) would rock very hard!

everyone trying to rush the sand bank and wait for an engineer to blow the razorwire, then storm through the trenches to get to the cliffside batteries and bunkers! it would be sooo good. All the while the defensive force are setting up MG nests in vantage positions and spraying the beach....this has soo much potential.

This is one of those games that sounds excellent in concept but when you put it in the real world hits problems.

1.) People suck, its hard enough getting a team of 4-8 strangers to co-operate.

2.) Laaaaaaaag

Exactly what I said to my brother, excellent theory but due to only a few percent of PS3 players actually using a headset and the fact the co-operation in random online games in minimal, it won't work the way it's suppose to.

Thats my prob with multiplayer squad stuff. Everyones a lone ranger.

Perhaps I am not doing it right. Or perhaps finding all the wrong servers. Its not hard to do even without comms, but everyone just wants to get in for their kills.

Edit: Actually on topic. Sound interesting. Done right, might tempt me in time to get a PS3.

256 players sounds awesome but I am really interested in how it's going to work.

My idea is that you will only be able to get a max of 32 players in one spot. The 256 players just means multiple games going on at the same time but it all adds up to the total match score.

It could use a Test Drive unlimited style of online. When you move around the place you disconnect from players and connect to other ones.

I mean don't get me wrong 256 players is going to be interesting. I just very much doubt you could get all those people together in the same spot.

lol got to love some of the jealous fangirls in this thread. It looks good now, admit it, come on its not that hard!

Lag is only a concern if there arent dedicated servers, but most of the popular PS3 games have them. ;)

Just in case that was aimed at me. I have a PS3 as well :p

Anyway, this game is too futuristic for my liking. Modern day or old school (WW2) all the way for me.

Engage your brain before making a post.

I don't see any fanboy comments in this thread and 256 players will cause huge lag problems unless it's a planetside type system where only 20ish players are in the same area at once. 2MB download speeds will not be able to cope with the data being thrown down the pipe for 256 players in the same place even if there is a server with 150MB upload speed and the PS3's limited RAM would cause issues so we're obviously not being told the whole story but just given a number to impress the simpletons.

It is 'engaged', maybe yours aint if you cant see half the negative comments, this thread lacks serious optimism!

What sounds so bad about 256 player (lol) frag fest?? Even more so if there is a strong chance of dedicated servers? Maybe the fact its a PS3 exclusive? Thats all I can think of anyway.
