The *Official* Eve Online Thread

i agree the time based method is better than the grind method but in eve imho you need 10m SP before you can really do anything. doesnt it take a month to just train the basic learning skills? what is the point?

i said back when i quit, eve should spawn new characters with 10m SP, then they can get right into the action and witin a year be quite good and probably be some 25m SP by then.

now with new skills it should probably be 15m SP

but by far, the BIGGEST problem in eve was lack of PVP. the reason for this imho was mainly becuase losing a t2 fitted ship could set you back 10h.

ie if you lost a T2 kitted BS you took a 150m hit, and would have to GRIND for 10h before you could get it back. 1m of pvp for 10h grind??

i was lucky in that i had plenty of isk when i played , but the people i killed where less lucky and could only earn the average jo wage of eve which was 5-15m an hour.

I lost another hard earned Destroyer today from being ambushed by a cruiser and also my own fault in not playing it safe. As a month old noob, this is a harsh lesson, but it makes the game more challenging. I know that I have to work hard to earn more cash and play more cautiously. This is the risk I take if I venture too far to lower spec systems.

There tends not to be anything of value in the lower security status systems, no ore worth the risk, no missions worth the risk etc.

You can make much more mining/trading/missioning in high sec

Best waiting till Monday and see what happens on Sisi, it seems silly to nerf Nano and at the same time nerf a counter to it, Rapier/Huginn aren't going to be as useful, I'd expect to loads of Arazu/Lachesis pilots now.

I've never flown nanos- I really dislike it as a mechanic, ships that can outrun missiles are just a bit silly... So I approve  but I'll freely admit I don't know the whole possible ramifications. Still, I think speed tanking is currently in need of a quick nerfbatting, just don't know whether this is all the right direction. Rather glad I don't own a big Snake.

Well it seems that you will still beable to get enough speed into a HAC to be as effective, it will just take some more skill to stay alive. You only every really used the 'silly' speeds when burning at or away from a taget. But also with the current OP of tracking disruptors i think they will become much more widespread useage.

As for the comments about mimitar/gallente recons. rapiers will still be as good, they are a little OP now. Where as damps are currently rubbish, and will continue to be rubbish. A gallente recon will only ever beable to lock down one ship where as a caldari can do 5 no problems.

Well with the new changes now the Gallente Recons will be able to disable ships with MWD's using scramblers although that will mean they have to be within bout 24k~ making thier damps a tad useless :). But still it gives the gallante recons something new so thats all good  Still it wont make them as effective as the Caldari recons are now.

tracking disruptors overpowered!? they're as nerfed as damps.

and caldari recon can definitely not 'lock down' 5 ships unless they are all frigs

I have a strange problem with EVE, and would love for someone to help.

EVE was working fine, then when I went to start it today it would start like normal with the splash screen coming up, then the login music would start and it be in my task bar like normal. However, I couldn't maximize it/make it visible. Starting the game in Safe Mode worked, until I set it to use full screen - now it does the same thing.

How can I fix this? I have reinstalled etc., with no joy.

Now I don't know what this is, but today I've been having trouble alt-tabbing in and out of eve, about 1 time out of 10 it refuses to come back up- sits on the taskbar, shows as running, actually seems to still be going... But I can't get into it. Not exactly the same but it does have similarities. Maybe there's some bug crept in today.

Maybe not 5, but a falcon can disable 3/4 without a problem.

Falcon will generally uncloak after the fight has started 150km away they can avoid damage or sacrifice themselves so that the rest of his gang can annihilate yours... they do seem a little bit broken compared to other EW at the moment, to be honest.

Press Alt - Enter when this happens ;) it puts it into a window and maximises it then just press alt enter again to put it to full screen mode :D. Works the vast majority of the time when Eve refuses to come back up.

Its chance of success is around 50% for BS per ecm mod, so no, it cant disable 3 or 4 without problem, it can barely totally lock down one BS:

Dont have stats to hand, but guessing sensor strength of 23 for BS, and jam strength of 11, 5 ecms:

96% success rate for jamming. Probably means you're fairly safe from 2 BS if you take lock time into consideration, and safe-ish from 3 HACs.

Just been on Sisi.

Previous Vaga, T2 OD // T2 Polys // T2 10MN MWD was around 7km/s.

Now barely gets passed 3.2km/s :)

My claymore used to do 4km/s thereabouts, now does 1.7km/s
