1 car, for life (Another izoneiz thread)

From the way I read the first post, I don't have to buy the car itself? Running costs are entirely dependant on way of life but yes, I understand servicing etc would't be cheap :)

Surely that's the same for any car?

Have to consider 5 years in the future you might have a mortgage/family, could you really afford to keep running a DB9, keep it fully serviced etc?

Mercedes W126 420 SE. Big, comfortable, not that economic but I was never one to really worry too much abotu the price of petrol. Legendary build quality so might actually be able to make it through *** rest of my life with lots of care and attention. That and I would just love to see how far one of the best built cars ever made could be driven.

Can't belive how anal people are being about my choice, might have to change it in a second :D

I never really took those factors into account, I simply said the first car that came into my head and fitted the criteria I listed :(

I thought this was supposed to be a fun thread :(

So why not buy a 1.0l Polo?

Because one is a 1.0l Polo, one is an Aston Martin. The polo would be less powerful, less comfortable, and generally less enjoyable.

A White Subaru Impreza STi. It'll fit the missus, the kids and the shopping in when I'm being sensible, and it's got more than enough grunt for when I'm not.

It's a car that I'd never, ever get bored of.

Brand new BMW 530i M Sport Touring LCI with all the toys.

Would be tempted by the 530d or the 535d but there is a lot to go wrong which means ££££££££££

Whats this fairy tale model of M5 you talk about?

I would prefer the e60 myself ;)

Rob
I haven't had a job in weeks my brain is melting away like a wet cake :D

Which is what happens when you're ending up at the pub most days, or if not just sat smoking a bajillion cigarettes in front of the telly bored because all your mates are at work.

I'm keeping my Skoda.

Cheap to run, enough in-gear poke to make me smile and big enough for 4 people or a pile of crap with the seats down.

Mine'd have to be a BMW 535d auto

I had a 525d as a courtesy car a while back, and in all honesty, it was all the car I would ever need. Supremely comfortable, large enough for a famly, a boot so huge I don't think I'd need an estate, looks OK and the easiest-to-drive car ever.

:P

I've had it three years, can see no reason to change it even if I win the lottery.

i see my house that way but thats because I like my home town.
I don't see why you wouldn't want to change your current car if money was no object, not even for a newer skoda, you'd just keep your current skoda?
