Far Cry 2 Specs Announced

my 8800GT must be a mutant because i played crysis 1680*1050 with all high settings no AA at 30fps roughly, it did lag in intense situations but could handle it most of the time...

anyway crysis is not a good game, and the style i play crysis was using cloak/tranq 95% of the time, id sneak up to them, tranq 1 and grab the other, then go strength mode and kill him, wait till the other guy wakes up and i grab him and take him into the jungle for some mutilation... na joking, i take pistol and shoot once to the head hehehehe:D or throw the other guy at him..

i expect far cry 2 to be just as bad. unless the bullets kill the guy in 2 shots in body maximum, and 3 shots anywhere, and accuracy is increased..

if far cry is as good as the trailer it should be fun, although when the voice said how do you stop a man who can turn the nation into a graveyard, he should have said, you send in DEATH!, and a face shot of some mean guy (you) :D:D:D

I use these settings for crysis now with my new sys(see sig) I know the settings are not that high but it still looks awsome and it runs very smooth too.. btw the res I use is 1440x900 not 1400x960, theres just no 1440x900 in the benchmark.

I'm getting perfectly decent, playable framerates at 1650x1050 on a 4870 with all settings on very high apart from postprocessing on medium. No AA though.

Im hoping the next card I get, I will be able to bump all settings to high and 1680x1050. But my 3870 run all my games fine atm, and dont see anypoint upgrading untll the card starts to struggle.

I'm really trying to figure out why i'm getting seemingly lower results than most other 4870 owners, i'm really sad about the fact that i'm getting worse FPS than before the upgrade. It might be the 4GB ram doing it for you, but i can't be too sure.

It will be the ram.
2Gig is not enough to be running Crysis well.

At a LAN last year a guy had 3 8800GTX's in SLI, yet only 2 gig of ram, Crysis ran better on my machine than his. Needless to say he was gutted.

Crysis ran fine on my x1900xtx, but Far cry 2? Noooooo, it would die :p

Its possible farcry2 will be just as bad or maybe run better, I know everyone is saying oh it will run great but I heard that before with crysis and it was like 10 times worse than what people said.

I'm confused, people say crysis runs fine on there X1900's yet they are running on a mix of medium and high, getting 21fps average compared to modern day cards at the same settings getting 60+fps average

Well I used to play it on my x1900, I also tweaked the buggery out of it to make it look even nicer as well :p

But on my 8800gts its more playable, APART from when the big Alien cocoon mountain thingy ma bob starts rumbling in the distance...Hah

I really am looking forward to this, crysis disappointed mostly for me on the fact that it wasn't really freeform and was actually quite linear in that it ushered you down a certain path and it wasn't as sandbox as the original. Hopefully and by the looks of it this is sticking to the original formula.

Looking forward to this more than I was for Crysis, I like the setting for FarCry 2 better. Just bought a dell inspiron 1720, more than meets the minimum so I should be able to play it fine :)

Mad. Why buy three 8800GTX at a cost of over £600 and skimp on £50 of memory

Remember that the original Farcry was very scaleable, it had some settings that couldn't be used at release, even by the best rigs at the time, but it also had settings that meant it could run on pretty low spec PC's at the time.

Recommended specs isn't the same thing as "running everything at max in high resolution"...
