The stories last year came on the back of the rubbish with Hicks but Rafa wasn't likely to walk as he stood to receive a massive pay-off (not to mention the fact that he's more than happy and settled in Liverpool) if he was sacked and the recent stories are just following on from what happened last year.

Benitez mentioned in his press-conference that there's no problem with the owners regarding the Barry saga as they've had nothing to do with it and have confirmed (again) to him that there's still money left to be spent. The negotiations have all been handled by Parry (Benitez does have a problem with him though) and it's his decision not to pay the £18m Villa want.

Ipswich signing Moritz Volz apparently... £500k, bargain.

According to Jim Magilton, the fee isn't as much as £500k. :o
