Yep thats definitely Shana in Flame Haze mode, (Disks 1 and 2 out so far on R2 and a R1 boxset due in September (Geneon rescue)) ... good series. You get her again around 1:19

Hmmm ... girl at 1:04 with ear muffs ... nope no idea, sorry

I still want to know what the anime is around 2:10 and also the band around 0:43? It scary how many I can identify though :) ... although my poor old first generation powerpc mac mini strains a bit to play it :)

Had a few things come today. Otoboku vol #2 which is very silly (watched it earlier .... it is to Strawberry Panic what that is to Marmite). Also vol #5 and #6 of The Third, The Girl with the Blue Eye along with boxsets for Shrine of the Morning Mist (as I liked the manga) and ToHeart (new thinpak release).

Also currently making my way through Emma season 1.

Theres some ToHeart and ToHeart2 in there as well. Also a brief Kiddygrade, Girls Bravo at the beginning and I'm sure there's a shot of Kaname (FMP). May have a further look at the weekend if I have time.

lsg1r, great ... I suspected the latter but haven't come across the former. Things look good this autumn with the next Clannad and Ef series airing :)

I've been using this version of the video due to the higher res :)

I know for certain theres some shinku and hina ichigo from rosen maidens and I think the ending has Nanaho Striker S in it.

As to the rest of the anime shown for reference - two thirds of which I haven't even heard of! :)

Thumbs up for Shana, a good series with some nice action scenes and your typical high school story thrown in, i also believe i saw Hecate from the same series somewhere in that amv to.

Yes that's right.

I've actually watched nigh on zero anime so far this weekend ... I do have an excuse though ... got a EEEPC 901 during the week and been tweaking it to handle *cough* files better :) .... nice pic of some of the Clannad girls on the desktop too :)

Just finished watching Emma ... very very good, an absolutely lovely story. I will be pre-ordering season 2 (as you have to really with the cliff hanger at the end).

Still think the main character looks like Yomi from Azumanga Diaoh (not a bad thing :))

It was rather good :)
I've yet to read the book that came with it, but have pre-ordered my copy of the second set (and should have my names in the extra credits, again:p).

I'm currently watching Magical Project S, but have discovered I can only really take magical girl anime when i'm in the right mood, especially when it's subbed so it takes full attention.

I think i'll watch the end of the second disk, then try something different for a couple of days.

Can any one recommend me some anime worth watching please?

I'm after something quite upbeat, mature and colourful. I don't really care what it is so long as it's not school based.

I watched Paprika this weekend and loved it, more like this would be great tbh. I was watching Ergo Proxy yesterday but I find it too depressing and boring to keep bothering with.

So yeah I guess I'm after some recommendations like Paprika.

Paprika, despite being full of sex, violence, and nightmarish dream sequences, reminded me intensely of Miyazaki's films, which are often pretty weird and scary despite* being aimed at children. So try not to be fulled by the children-oriented character designs and check out some Ghibli stuff - there's a lot more depth to them than their look would suggest. My favourites are probably Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle.

Also check out Tekkonkinkreet, which is probably my favourite anime film of all time (competing for the top with GITS:Innosence and the Cowboy Bebop film). Yeah I know every other post I make in this thread raves about this film and everyone's sick of it - it's not that I don't watch anything else, I watch plenty of anime (series too), but this was just THAT good! I saw it in Borders as a graphic novel today, and was tempted to get it, but it was huge and expensive.

Got an interesting book come the other day. It's from the BFI Film Classics series and is about Spirited Away by Andrew Osmond. It covers things like the background to the story, the way it was created and other interesting information about the film. It also analyses the characters as they travel through the film.

I'm quite heavily into anime, i've seen the majority of the big names and quite a few of the less known, but there is always one series that i keep losing track of then watching in big lumps and it always (aside from the odd filler arcs) blows everything away for me. What is this epicness i hear you cry? Well its a series that i generally get slated for mentioning, let alone admitting i love: One Piece. I've only just discovered this forum section so forgive me for not re-reading this gargantuan thread to find out for myself, but does anyone else out there actually like this series as much as me?

It's funny, exciting, tear-jerkingly sad and, well, just plain fantastic. The problem i seem to notice is that it takes an age to really get into the flow, i really struggled until the 100th episode or so, now i just can't get enough.

Just to put in a little speed bump to slow down the accusations of poor taste against me, my current bed time DVD is the entire bebop boxset, i do like that too, honest! :p

One piece from what i've heard isn't that bad, it's the butchered kids version I think most people object to ;)

I've just finished watching the Mini Pato episodes from the Wasted 13 LE, and i'd forgotten how funny they were - the first one is pretty educational (about the gun they carry), but the other two are pretty much pure humour with a certain amount of spoofing as well (the second one explains why the patlabors are like they are, and has pato-dam's, evo-pato etc ;) ).

Ah yes, the dubbed 'version', i've seen half an episode of that i turned it straight off it was appauling. I can understand them removing the swear words during translation (One Piece has crap loads of swearing in it) but they even redrew some of the actual scenes: they replaced Sanjis cigarette with a lollypop (?!) and replaced sharp metal spears with plungers. It's like they decided they wanted a new pokemon but couldn't find one so just changed onepiece around loads till it vaguely resembled it.

Kaizoku fansubs do a fantastic job and do as close to a word for word translation as possible, in some cases they even leave the japanese words in there and explain what they mean to you as something would be lost in translation. Very far removed from its american counterpart.

I've just finished watching Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru (otoboku for short :)) and its actually enjoyable considering its basically a feminine boy (dressed as girl) in an all girls school due to his grandfathers will.

Yep, I think it's quite fun too ... I've seen the first two DVD's, (Andarial - kick whoever your pre-order for vol 2 is with as it's out ... I got it last week sometime IIRC), and have vol 3 on pre-order currently. It's pretty standard in it's plot lines but still fun never the less.

Tried to watch Ef today .... trouble is I always end up trying to watch it when i'm ill and I always seem to fall asleep when I do so .... which is a shame as it looks very good.

ordered from dvd box office.says released on 19 aug on my order form
Who did you order it from to get it before release date memyselfandi ? :)

United Publications .... sometimes they ship a bit early (and sometimes a bit late ... I'm waiting for a few things that have been released that I may need to kick them for). They currently are showing Otoboku 2 for immediate delivery, (which means it's in stock in the UK), for £9.80 + shipping. You can probably get it cheaper from the US direct but I prefer the convenience of having it delivered to work and not having to worry about customs charges.

Edit: incidentally from the above, ordered the Sugardansen single earlier .... well it was 600yen from "rainforest" japan and I was getting some other things from there anyway :)
