Who wont be playing Warhead

I have it on order but I'm in no rush as my PC isn't the best, I'll probably leave it a month or two anyway and wait for a patch or two then give it a run.

I did that with COD4 and Crysis.

Praise for what exactly? Creating an average FPS with an engine thats so appallingly coded that it just doesnt scale?

How can it be average when it won game of the year? Show me another FPS released in the last 12 months specific to the pc platform, which has the best graphics ever seen in any game on any platform? This is what crysis has achieved. They deserve some kudo's for sticking with the pc platform. I admit it could have been coded better before release, maybe it was the suits of EA breathing down the neck of crytek to get this game out on the market. A lot of pc gamers are concerned about the steady decline of pc specific titles. All we seem to get is RTS type games. All the other types (except simulators) are ports from the x360. Well done crytek. Great game, could have been better, but there you go. That wasn't so hard now was it?

Yup - got my pre-order all lined up. Have just completed Crysis a second time (this time with the with the MAX detail mod). Sure - it had 2 dimensional characters, and unimaginative story and so, so game play, but I enjoyed it as much as I would any summer blockbuster movie - and Crysis lasted twice as long!

Anyway - this is the last chance before Crytek consolise their catalogue...

I really enjoyed Crysis and never had a problem with how it ran. The gameplay was a notch higher on delta too where you couldn't just sit in your hummer taking everyone out with the fixed gun. I definitley prefer the more open levels of a Crysis over the more linear/scripted stuff like HL2 (although HL2 is a fine game), and I think the nano suit added a nice extra layer of gameplay. Plus the visuals kicked some major ass.

So yes I'll be buying Warhead.

I will. I love running around the jungle in Crysis. I just wish there were larger jungle areas which were more dense. A one on one multiplayer map with dense jungle where you hunt each other would be so fantastic!

If Warhead is more action orientated leaving you less able to stroll along, I might not like it as much.

The only performance issues I wish they would sort out are ATI/Crossfire and that when there's a few KPA around it kills FPS.

If it performs ok I'll give it a look i.e. as long as it doesn't feel broken, like Crysis - one of the very few games that I did enjoy but didn't finish - due to the awful performance.

I played Crysis I think it is one of the best PC games ever.
Waiting fo Warhead, but hjope it will be working on GTX280 on VeryHIgh at 1920x1200, unless they didnt fix their code and left same as Crysis, then.. sucks..

I manage average 32 FPS on xp doing the GPU benchmark test, Very high settings same card as yours oc'd to 700/1750/2000, 3.3gig C2D and 2gig ram. Try the CCC mod here. http://www.crysis-online.com/forum/index.php/topic,29717.0.html made a big difference to fps and made it look a bit better too with 2 of my mates pc's and mine too. Here are some vids of mine in action. http://www.xfire.com/profile/robrx7/# For some reason the video came out a bit jerky, but the gameplay was really smooth.

Cool thanks mate, I'm trying it now, what level did you play it on? Looking at the info below I want to try 5 but I might be better off on 4?

LVL-1 = VERY-LOW (For 'Low-end' PC.) [CPU]x1 [RAM]1GB Min [GPU]8600/8500 256MB and up.
LVL-2 = LOW (For 'Slow' Gaming-PC's.) [CPU]x2 [RAM]1GB [GPU]8800GT 256-320MB, 7950GT & up
LVL-3 = MEDIUM (For'Good' Gaming-PC.) [CPU]x2 [RAM]2GB & up [GPU]8800GT/GTS [old]320-640MB
LVL-4 = HIGH (For 'Great' Gaming-PC.) [CPU]x2-x4 [RAM]2GB & up [GPU]8800GT/GTS [g92]512 & up
LVL-5 = HIGH+(For 'Great' Gaming-PC.) [CPU]x2-x4 [RAM]2GB & up [GPU]8800GT/GTS [g92]512 & up
LVL-6 = VERYHIGH (FOR FUTURE Gaming PCs)[CPU]x2-4 [RAM]2GB-4 & up [GPU]8800Ultra & up.

*NOTE*For [GPU]'s, the equivalent or nearest match (performance-wise) using:

Last-Generation (8x00 or 7x00 Nvidia Series or ATi GFX Cards), or
Current-Generation (9x00 or 2x0 Nvidia Series or ATi GFX Cards) Hardware is is also acceptable.

Same processor and graphics card here, and I used level 5. It didn't boost the FPS by more than one or two frames because of that (and of course the FPS still did dip from time to time), but providing you use the time of day mod included, the first few levels especially look fantastic.

However, I thought Reckoning didn't look as good as it does in standard 'high' or 'very high', and there are problems I found with shadows- jagglies, jumping about etc, which was annoying.

Still, I'd definatley recommend trying it out.

Definately, I enjoyed the first one greatly and I'm sure this one will be fun too. The story and characters were weak, sure, but ultimately the gameplay and visuals more than make up for the areas where it is lacking. It's not the best performing game, but it is deifnately the best looking by far, so it's sort of a fair trade, as long as you're willing to sacrifice blistering framerates for superb visuals.

I can't help but think that some people dislike Crysis purely because they are bitter that they can't run it very high 1920x1200 16xAA,AF at 60+FPS. Maybe.

Besides, there is nothing like leveling an entire shanty village then killing a terrified korean soldier with a watermelon. Good times!

!

I think you hit the nail on the head there, with a decent PC I fail to see how anyone could not be astounded by the detail which even includes parts not really seen in the game. If you swim in the sea there's shoals of tropical fish & coral & even plankton! the stones on the beach actually have fossil worm tracts, the plants & trees are based on the real thing & not the usual fantasy stuff ,I mean how real can it get?
Myself I love the big tank level where you drive to the station & then onto the Quarry / mine area,, there's so much replay value here it's incredible . I will play Warhead altho I am more looking forward to Farcry2 for something completely different

Or chopping a tree down with a few bullets and then cutting off a decent sized chunk to pick up and throw at em. :D

crysis is more for people who want to flash their e-dicks

my gtx280 tri-sli gets 120FPS with all settings on max!

oh yeah! well my radeon 4870x2 crossfire gets 130FPS all on max!

Got mine on preorder, looking forward to it should be a nice quick blast. The sort of game you play over the weekend and finish. Hope my rig plays it ok, and no sluggish parts:)

lol know whats amusing me, why theres a thread on who 'wont' be playing warhead, if your not playing it then STFU and get on with life, why waste time making a thread about it?
