Why has the price of the Tuniq Tower gone up to almost £60 i remember when it was like 30ish or less its not even a great cooler for the simple fact it looks like a childrens drawing of a christmas tree and is a nightmare to install. If anyone is unsure which air cooler to get i would recommened the Thermalright 120 Extreme, it looks great has better temps that the Tunq Tower and isnt that bad to install! And btw I do own both coolers...

^^ yeh I discovered this when I spec'ed a thread a couple of days ago. Bloody ridiculous, silly price for a tuniq tower. I've started going with Zalmans.

thats the 'newer' version of the tuniq tower..hence the price :)

Mine cost £30 or something when I got it originally, but it isn't that blue lighted one.

mine cost £30 and IT WAS the blue lighted one. And there isn't any "Newer" version, they're both the same, just with different fans.

I'd hate to imagine what installing the tuniq is like if they thermalright is meant to be a lot easier. Its a pain in the neck, and the less said about the way the fan clips on the better.

I'm yet to find anything that is as easy to install as a swiftech waterblock :p

....That is the 'newer' version...As it came out after the one I brought.

So, theoretically, it is newer.

When I got a tuniq it was meant to be the best available at the time, but now that its £60.....thats far too much! If your paying that might as well save a bit more and get a cheap watercooling kit!

Plus the CPU fan controller they give with it doesnt work for me, dont know why :(

Its as over priced as the TRUE now, I bought my TRUE cheap just before the prices went crazy so I got a bargain compared to how they are now.

Silly prices TBH. Whoever doesnt go for a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 at the moment is a silly billy. :p It's too cheap not to compared to TRUE's and the like. Stick a Noctua P12 fan on it and I'm pretty sure it'd be unbeatable.

The blue ones were the same price as the 'old' type. Yes, just different fans. There was at worst, a fiver difference. Not £30 difference. The Noctua HSF is much better designed than the Tuniq.

Only thing I dont like about the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 is the push pins.

There is a retention kit available but quite hard to source over here if my 5 minute google was anything to go by.

Not sure why they can't put it in the box as standard though, it's only a few dollars to buy over the pond.
