Star Wars: Force Unleashed Demo

Ive been playing it on and off over the last week or so, id probably say about 13 hours - but i have been pratting about with force powers - and there have been some tough battles, i have yet to find all the secrets on a level too, so going to go back through :)

I've found it hard to find a game to keep me going for months now, but this has me wanting more - im enjoying the story, some cool little twists and battles, good bridge between Episode III and IV

It only came out today - how have you been playing it for the past week or so?

Having a lot of fun with this :) On the final level now, started yesterday and had a day off work (Actually ill!) so blitzed most of it, great game, loving it, and some of the euphoria moments, of stormtroopers grabbing railings as they fly over in an attempt to save themselves gave me a big grin! As did your droids surprise! :)

How cool was the Proxy bit on one of the later levels...

Im sure i dont need to explain, or spoil for anyone else! i was like AWESOME!!!!

I was under the impression it was set before a New Hope??

oh, lol- that's actually what you were saying! fail.

Purchased this a few hours ago for the ps3, gotta say im enjoying it! Good mindless fun, and the story seems pretty good too (so far).

My copy's not turned up yet, wanted to have a good blast on it this weekend so it better turn up tomorrow.

Been playing it since yesterday on PS3. Very good game but not great. If it was not Star Wars material in it then average game at best. Lot like DMC4 in places. Some of the graphics in the animated backgrounds are astonishing probably the best ever on any format so far. Controls are a little clumsy at times.

Cannot believe this has been in development for almost 4 years as the gameplay is not anywhere near as good as Jedi Outcast (which is over 6 years old).

Some screen tearing on specific levels but mostly vsync is on. Very smooth FPS but the camera should have been like Tomb Raider where you have more control. This fixed angle is a bit awkward at certain times. Also long loading times (20-25 secs) whenever you want to go into the menus to upgrade force/combat powers.

Well worth buying if your a Star Wars fan otherwise unless you do not already own DMC4 or SC4 & or like fighting games not worth getting.

In a few months it will be much cheaper anyway as not much replay value so unlikely to be full price for long.

I got this through rental on the 360 today and i must say, it is quite grim. Although i am just through the first wookie level, the amount of loading, pop in, pop out and screen tearing is ridiculous!
Is the PS3 version any better?

Random thoughts....

Completed it on normal difficulty, there were some parts of the game that were really annoying - like occasions where you would get knocked over by a homing missile or something, recover to be hit by another that hits you just as you're getting up and you can't avoid, etc etc. Guess that's bad luck - but it's frustrating.

Cinematics and storyline are excellent - if you're a Star Wars fan this is definitely worth playing (especially since Lucas has said that its canon). The score - as one might expect from a Star Wars game - is grand and engrossing. The graphics in general are really good as well - probably one of the most detailed games I've seen on the PS3. I did however notice some pop-in at distance, and there were a couple of occasions where FPS dropped (usually when I was electrifying about 10 people at once)

I didn't have nearly as much trouble with the targeting as I was expecting to based on reviews.

The bit with the Star Destroyer was very annoying (that bit definitely mirrored what was said in reviews)

The save system is utterly retarded. For starters theres an auto-save feature which is great until you come across a point in the game where you don't realise it's a whole new area that gets loaded, the game then insta-saves as soon as you restart and you can't go back to search for holos or whatever. You have the option to "Save Game" from the menu but no choice of slots to save it in - you basically save over the auto-save. Oh, and you can't disable auto-saving either so if you want to see both endings you have to redo the last level totally twice.

Areas of the map which aren't obviously out of bounds but result in instant death, getting stuck regularly on terrain, I even got stuck in position in one occasion and had to reload.

Not enough saber combos (Force Combos) - by the end of the game I had about 17 spare unlock points and nothing to spend them on. Would've liked to have seen choke as a Force Grip upgrade instead of the "grip multiple targets" which I never needed to use.

"Loading" on changing options (wtf) and everything else. Thankfully with what appears to be a hard disk install on the PS3 it doesn't take too long to load.

All in all a worthwhile purchase (boo hiss McDaniel), though I don't imagine there is a great deal of replayability now that I've seen both endings. It's a pretty short game too.

I wish i was playing the game you are :p

Ah fair enough. Well I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd so the fact the story was compelling and canonical sealed the deal for me :)
