Is it wrong not to like clubbing?

Maybe then I would not mind clubs if I was with friends, problem is I know no one yet in manchester apart from the 2 lasses in my flat and also one guy but he aint around much, and I dont think it would be a good thing going to the club with these 2 lasses as they are going to just to pull, hell I would not mind pulling a nice lass but I HATE been on my own and I know I'd end up on my own in this place I'm not used to as they would go off obviously. I'll have to hope I get on with the people on the same course as me at college and go out with some of em, just I hope they aint the kind that are wanting to stay stuck in on there PC's all night. Thats what I am doing at the moment not cause I like it as I dont but cause I dont want to go out on my own and know no one yet, Manchester is a weird place for me and still not used to it after 1+ weeks.

I'd have thought not everyone on here was "internet geeks", everyone suddenly thinks that due to the fact this is Overclockers UK, the forum of a Computer shop, when there is much more than PC stuff on this forum tbh...

I'm not saying that getting drunk will sort any problems out just that you said you couldn't get drunk for fun but you can get drunk, which sounds a bit funny. As what you sounded to me like I can't get drunk and have a good time but as long as I'm not having a good time I can get drunk.

Just started uni i'm guessing, trust me there are hundreds of people in the same situation as you. You'll make loads of friends on your course, you'll make loads of friends when you join a society and then you'll make friends with all their friends. Chin up, there are so many people out there to meet

Aye but its a College I'm doing the course at, its got plenty of chavs and 16yr olds in :\, I'd have liked to go to a Uni better but they just did not do the course I wanted to do. I remember York College, I hanged around with people all the time, we went out in the car doing stupid stuff and that but we never hanged around out of college.

I'm guessing Uni has plenty of better people in, as everyone is above 18 so there is bound to be a lot more mature and just generally better people no?

It wasn't actually! Was maybe a bit too succinct, but it's true. If clubs played nothing but Pink Floyd, you wouldn't get me out of one. As it is, I can't stand chart rubbish, what's now called R'n'B, and dance music of any sort. When I was a student, (not that long ago, I'm only 22!) I would sometimes go to a club to be sociable when 'everyone else' was going, but I can't say I've ever enjoyed it. I guess that's sort-of relevant to the original post, I've no problem addmitting to this but somehow it's seen as 'strange'. I can't understand that...maybe other people are more tolerant about their music, I dunno.

Prefer the bars to clubs. You can hear each other over the music at a bar. They should limit the decibels in clubs. Still have buzzing in my ear the next morning.

The best music to listen to isn't the best music to dance to. You can't really 'dance' to Pink Floyd - imagine 'Nobody Home' in a club. I'm afraid you are a victim of your own music snobishness

No I went to White in 2006 and was meant to be going to Defqon this year, will probs be another Q Dance event next year aswell.

If you are looking for something which is similar in this country Fantasy Lands in Edinburgh on the 15th of November has Angerfist Headlining one of the arena's.

Also Kiddstock is always good

Can fully appreciate that, and I'm happy to admit music snobishness, I enjoy what I choose to listen to too much to want to listen to anything else. I really do enjoy 'letting go' at gigs and having a good old headbang - I love Progressive Metal (Dream Theater et. al.) as much if not more than Floyd. I'd happily do the same to a recording in a club (after a few beers!), but it's not exactly 'mainstream'.

Clubbing has got a bit boring as of late, much prefer house parties and uni halls etc..

And back on topic...I like the above 'scene' as it where, as well as my local pub which has a lovely old jukebox with tons of old classics

So both a nice quiet pub and a party to me are good.

I'm exaclty the same, I always choose the pub over a club. I don't like the atmosphere.

Each to their own, I know people who just hate going the pub or anywhere like that.

For me it depends on the company and of course the venue(s). I've noticed, now that I'm 27, that I'm not even close to the clubbing person that I use to be when I was 19 - 23. Guess it's me getting older! These days I usually just go to a few house partys every now and then and save the money I'd spend on a night out for something I want.

Going out and socializing / meeting women has taught me a lot!. Something that I wouldn't have been able to do if I hadn't.
