What car do you drive and why?

Current car: None

Why: don't take my test till 6th october :p

next car: looking at either a 306 hdi, a cheap mk 3 golf or a mondeo.

Why: with the band touring and the amount of equipment we have between us, I need something with a large boot and that's relatively economical for the atrocious amount of milage I'm probably going to be doing. And those 3 cars are the best I can get for the amount I can afford with insurance as afirst time buyer (£1600 at most).

Although I did see a lovely ford capri that turned out to be the same price to insure......temptation :D

Current car: Volvo V70 Phase 2 T5

Why: Disabled daughter and the boot is what we needed and it cost me a grand total of £900 in the end :D

Next: No idea

Current Car: 9N3 VW Polo GTI

Why: Because I've been in to the VW scene for years, I knew how great they can look with a few subtle modifications, knew how the handling can be made fantastic and knew how tunable the very much tried and tested 1.8 20VT engine is.

Next car: No idea, probably be looking at spending around £25k so will see what my money can buy at that time

Current Car: 1.8 Vectra SRi

Why: Cheap car to buy and run, it was £850 for a very well looked after car which has had all the usual replacements done to it. I had a 1.6 escort before and i wanted something with a bit more power and more space so i can get 2 bikes in the back of it or 3 mates. Also something which could do a lot of motorway driving in comfort (the escort was too low as i'm 6'2" an my head touched the roof) as i need to go a fair distance to go to certain jobs at work a couple of times a month

Next: I haven't 100% decided yet, it depends on my circumstances. If i get a company car any time soon, which would be nice, then i think i'll look at a well looked after Porche 944 S2 for somewhere below £4k as a weekend car. If i don't then i'll spend similar on a mid 90's BMW 3 series 325/320 as it'll have to do the motorway drives, but want something with a bit more of a kick to it.

Current Car: Impreza Turbo, I wanted one for a few years (mainly for the noise) Bought one last year, loved every minute of driving it. Won't hestitate to get a newer one somewhere in the future but its not really realistic for me to own one atm.

Next Car: Clio172, as said earlier in this thread, its a good compromise between speed and cost, plus ive heard they're fun to drive. I like the looks and the way it drove.

Current:
BMW Z4 3.0Si Coupe.
The way it drives, the way it looks, the way it sounds and the smile it puts on my face no matter how mundane the journey. There's nothing else on the road which had the complete package I was after apart from this. Absolutely love it.

Next car:
I might go down the 2 car route if I have sufficient space for parking. I want a Morgan Aero 8 but it wouldn't be practical ro run one as my oinly car so I'd want a 330i or something similar to do the commute to work in. At present, the Aero 8 is the only car that I contuially look at and want so if I cannot realistically get one, I'll hang onto the Z4 until something else comes along.
Failing that, a Porsche 997 of some description. Preferably a turbo but more realistically a C2S or C4S.

Why: Because Fox brainwashed me by taking me out in his car and crashing it.

LMAO were you with him? You egged him on  :D

Current car 1: 2000 Honda Accord 2.0 SE VTEC
Bought it last May (I think) as an upgrade from my Megane. It's very comfy, spacious, inviting to get into in a cold, wet, dark evening after a hard day's work, drives well and has all the equipment I really need. Looks nice too, and above all is the most reliable thing on the planet, ever. It seriously hasn't put a foot wrong at all. Touch wood.

Next car 1: If I was to replace it and not run it into the ground (see below) then it'll probably be with another Honda or a Mondeo Estate or something.

Current car 2: 1990 Mazda MX5 1.6i
Bought it last month because I wanted one, and they're terrific fun, and I wanted something fun for the weekend and to tinker with. It ticks all the boxes, and then some. Seriously good fun and addictive to drive. Reliable and in excellent condition for it's age, too. I enjoy tinkering and replacing wear-and-tear parts and generally bringing it up to pristine condition etc, as well as hooning it about at the weekend.

Next car 2: Won't be for a while, I have plans for the MX5. Namely spending money on exhaust, suspension and forced induction. That's a long term plan though, when I can afford to.
If I do replace it in the future it'll probably be with something like an Elise or a Caterham

:)

At present, the Aero 8 is the only car that I contuially look at and want

Hells yes.

Current Car Mazda Rx-7 TwinTurbo.

Bought it because i drove a mates rx and was blown away by the handling and power delivery. Also loved the timeless curves and unique revvy engine. I always wanted one since playing the original need4speed. Also love the fact that it's 15 years old and it can embarrass a lot of performance cars, even new ones today, and tax only costs £10 per month:D

Next car Family car with a towbar.
Something like a passat estate TDI with a towbar so i can get the baby seat in the back along with the shopping and tow the rx to race tracks.

Current Car: 2001 Focus 2.0 Ghia

Why: It's quick-ish. Can get the baby in the back. It was cheap. Really like the looks of it.

Next Car: either Focus ST, Focus RS, Mondeo ST220, Civic Type R, BMW 330ci, Leon Cupra R, Golf GTI, Octavia vRS, Impreza STi, Mazda 3 MPS, Mazda 6 MPS or Volvo S40 T5.

Current Car: Seat Leon 1.8T Fr (180). Ticks all the boxes (under 6k when purchased a year ago, rapid enough, 5 doors, hatchback, practical, handles relatively well, not bone-shattering ride)

Next Car: Dont really know as im entering a pretty big house purchase, but ideally something along the (quite varied) lines of an Accord 2.4, 330i/d, A4 6cyl - Something with similar/better performance than the Leon, slightly bigger, slightly plusher, for around 8-11k...

Current car: Nissan Micra k11 1.0
Why: Was in superb condition and due to my budget I went for condition and miles over which car it was. It now is nearing 8 years old, spotless underneath and has done 30k and had no problems in the time I have owned it. Still at uni so not much money to play with so I wont even consider swapping it until I graduate.
It isnt a fast or cool car but as an A to B car it cannot be faulted, everthing works on it too.

Next: Not sure tbh. Nothing huge, maybe a focus or a clio 182 or new fiesta. Will see what I feel like at the time. Probably wont be anything with v6 engines or the like though. It is 2 years away so not given it much thought.

Current car - E39 530d sport 2002 model.
1994 mx-5 eunos.

Next car -
BMW 530i sport E60
BMW M5 E39
BMW 545i sport
Ford Mondeo 2.5t Titanium X
BMW 535d sport.
Lexus GS300
Lexus LS460
Audi A6 3.0 Tdi
Audi A6 4.2V8
Mercedes E500

The above is the shortlist, although I really have to go out and test them,

Current car : 97 Vectra 1.8 LS
Why : was £100 at the time and I was skint, but badly needed a car, that was 2 years ago, the insurance is dirt cheap, all I've had to replace is the tyres and I get 55 mpg on the motorway from it. no point replacing it for now until it dies a horrible death

it cuts out when you drop down from 3rd to 2nd when coming up to lights (think the idle fuel valve is a bit knackered, so I just rev a bit after taking out of 3rd and it prevents that), it creaks like hell under 30mph (probably slight rust on the brake discs), the guy that 'services' it for me said there's no point getting it properly done, but it's road safe

-was saving up for an S2000 and had 8k put away, but I got ill and had to use that to live off for about 18 months :(

Next car : probably a Focus or something else small & comfy to drive to work and back, that has good mpg.

Dream car : 97 Viper GTS

Current Car: Renault Clio 197
Why: Great compromise between all out fun and a relaxing drive when called upon.
Also - Toyota MR2 Mk1
Why: Wanted something cheap to use as a track car due not wanting to spend lots on the clio tracking it, this came up for £400 so grabbed it quickly!

Next Car: Something cheaper and still fun, was going to go for a 172 but didn't like it, so possibly a MX-5, need to do more research really!
