All PC Gamers are pirates and the PC is hard to program for...

**** Scum bag pirates get some money and buy games no more o i will try b4 i buy bs just buy it or don't play it. OMG i would have loved Gears of War 2 to come to the PC.

The majority of pirates wouldn't buy the game anyway. I think many run the frame of mind of "If the game is good I will buy it because it deserves my cash".
As a result if it is bad they wouldn't buy it in the first place.

If not that, it is a case of they wouldn't have spent their money on regardless of if they could pirate it or not.

The industry is using it as an excuse, Pirating does cause bother yes, but not as much as they say.

Well he is partially right as a lot of PC users do pirate and come on here & many other forums to boast about it as well. Trying to give some BS excuse that as they paid ££££ for their quad core quad sli system its their birthright to pirate games as they are all rubbish anyway then try to justify it etc etc .

Cliffyb should try and develop some worthwhile PC games then perhaps they will get the sales. GOW was average on the 360 at best only got good sales as it was one of the best titles at the time but the PC version showed up just how average it was and how poor the gameplay is. Epic outsourced the PC version to some crappy polish developer (People Can Fly) who left the game full of bugs like the infamous lose all your save games one (which affected me twice when I was trying to unlock the hard mode it refused to unlock so I gave up on it just like Epic wanted me to). GOW2 would suck on the PC so just as well they are abandoning the platform which gave them a lot of money when they had the talent to makesomethnig worth buying.

Why on earth have several people stated that people play illegal games on the PS3? It is currently impossible, no one has cracked it yet or created a chip for it.

On the 360 if you chip/modify there is a good chance your console will end up permanently banned from Xbox live which is a rather large gamble to take. The only console that is rife with unchecked piracy is the Wii but even with that you have to go out and pay for a chip and possibly pay someone to fit it for you. None of them are used for playing pirated software as much as the PC market is suffering.

maybe they should think about making theyre games work on the average pc users computer then...

instead of lazily coding it so it doesnt even work that well on the higher end stuff

I didnt think gears of war was that great when it came out on the 360, the Unreal games did absolutely nothing for me either.

Yes Epic games are generally very pretty, but they they are very shallow experiences.

You lot are funny, he made no such claim.

He's merely commenting on the fact that piracy is more prevalent in high end games due to the market they are aimed at. It's undeniably true :p

Sorry don't see how:

A. The proof is quantifiable
B. The proof is even valid

There is a huge market in piracy for console formats. Visit any car boor sale and you can see that. Taking your console along to somewhere to get it chipped is easier for the less tech savvy than trying to work out how to runs cracks, securom bypass or whatever the hell they use these days. And why would piracy be just as rife on console formats? Because there is a huge market for console games and kids demanding those games that the parents can't afford. This is total BS on Epic's part..................

As for me I pay for my games, even the ones that they release that plainly aren't ready or have had a pathetically short beta test. As always publishing houses are the victim of their own market aggression. They whinge about piracy but put pressure on programmers to turn out work to tighter and tighter deadlines, the work gets released and it is generally sub-standard and is then followed by a multitude of half-baked patches that generally mess things up more.

The damn games industry should be looking to it's own internal working problems instead of blaming piracy. PC architecture and the huge range of variants of components has always been an issues for programmers and that is why programming for consoles is the easy option. It's their no-brainer approach that they would prefer to not admit to.

That's not strictly true. It depends on what firmware you use and if the games have been ripped/imaged 'correctly'.

sometimes i try before i buy *waves @ nvidia_x64* ..i wont deny it.
but as for unreal they released a demo so there was no need to...i found the game to be very poor in comparison to other unreal games and also very dark which i didnt like....so i never bought it or even downloaded it for the quick singleplayer blast.

xbox 360 ....cost 15 quid to get it chipped...came with a 1 year warranty on the chip and this is from a computer shop.
ive never paid for a xbox 360 game.

i dont play many different pc games but i have paid for near half of the games i have.

came with a 1 year warranty on the chip

LOL, what chip? They gave you a warranty on some firmware :D

There is no 'chip' to warranty, the firmware on the drive is flashed. Some drive versions used to need a 'passkey' chip fitted in order to be flashed, but it's usually removed afterwards. You can flash these drives without a 'passkey' chip now though.

Don't you start your tantrum just yet, they said exactly the same thing about the first one, you see it's being marketed as an xbox exclusive and it's meant to be one of the selling points. The first one was also an exclusive.

Frankly I think some people are over reacting here but it's understandable as PC platform has been attacked by quite a few developers lately. He does actually make a valid point, however, puts it across in a real PR disaster way. He's doesn't quite say the sensationalist quote that all PC gamers are pirates, merely pointing out that people intelligent enough to actually know what they can do with a computer are intelligent enough to figure out how to pirate a game.
