I just bought a Ps3, 360, £2000 computer and a 40" plasma screen with my Uni grant!

Didn't you struggle at uni not being able to do all that? I suppose it depends on the course that you do, after all the priority in maths is not spelling!

Nope, not at all, programming does not require spelling and even then the compiler will tell you if something is misspelled.

i used to work my butt off in the time off i had in the summer, and use that & student loan to pay for stuff (and in wales you get a free grant)

i never touched my student overdraft until the end of my 2nd year, when i went off the rails for a 6 weeks and spent £2000 on going out*

*do not do this.

Fail.

You were doing really well and then you go and do a thing like that.. Your as bad as the people who live beyond their means.. :(

With my student loan I get it in installments in 3 stages, and I dare not spend any on computer upgrades or anything, I'm saving it untill the end then I'll splash out in jan/feb, trying to make sure I only use it when I NEED it atm, like food and bike maintainance, spent 50 quid other day, new tyre, cleats and inner tube :\ I'm trying to make what food I have at the moment last as long as I can too.

Think yourselves lucky. I won't be able to get a student loan going to America, and then have to pay more than double what everyone else pays due to being an international student. :(:o

You must have been saving up and getting a good job yea?

I've never had a job in my life. Currently looking for one though. :p

Have you applied for any yet? I'm in the same boat, never had a job in my life and looking for one but I am getting rejected from everything, I did a CV and nothing wrong with it, showing my grades, courses I have done and all the usual stuff, even been rejected from a cleaning job I have no hope what so ever, they did say if you dont get a reply back within 28 days but tbh if they dont reply within a couple o days then that means you dont get the job tbh.

Some students live at home, so get to spend pretty much all of the money they're given

I'm sure if students live at home they are entitled to less than students living away from homer, besides even if I was living at home I'm sure my parents would make me use the money for clothes and food and all the usual stuff etc...

Never took a student loan throughout university. A lot of part time work and the single-parent bursary thing got me through it with zero debt at the end.

I put my student loan towards a completely unnecessary sports car, why? Because my parents paid for my education and gave me spending money.

Probably how most people afford to spend their loan on luxuries, bit of a stupid question imho :)
No, it's not a stupid question. Not everyone has the fortune of getting things paid for, before they even get the loan. That's a bit of stupid answer.

I've applied to quite a lot of places but I've only ever had one interview from it all. I guess the only thing we can do is just post our CVs everywhere.

Its not a stupid question at all. MOST people do not have that sort of background or exposure to it to think its obvious. Its pretty clear what the results of that are though...
