FARCRY 2 --- Officially , official of official threads! ---

Just ran the benchmark dx10 1360x768 u-high, no aa
min51 av61fps max84

So the fps are ok but the movement is very choppy.
Even with a 360 joypad the analouge moves the view slowly if pushed a little but then suddenly moves full speed if pushed a little further, like some funky acceleration which makes it unplayable.
Do xbox owners have this same joypad accelation problem?

Try adjusting the maximum pre-rendered frames in nvidia settings. Drop it down to 1 or something.

Just read the PC Gamer review and it got me excited - I then noticed it gave a similar score to Crysis and my excitement vanished.

Is this worth getting on the PC?

With my new PS3 Im only gonna get FPSes on the PC and I suspect only this, Fallout 3 and GTA 4 will be bought this year...

Scores are completely objective.

Personally if it as good as Crysis I am going to love it. But I know some people don't like Crysis.

Anyone looked in the game configs to see if there are tweakable settings like we had in Crysis? possibility of altering annoying settings like Malaria for e.g
Also, does the harder difficulty you play at make the Malaria worsen faster?

Just got my ass handed to me on a plate in the shanty village, enjoying it though.

Strange performance getting high framerates but it seams to jerk along sometimes, textures are a lot lower than crysis but on a whole graphically i think its set out very well, the sunsets are stunning.

No problems running everything maxed out in DX9 or DX10 on a GTX280 for me anyway,4gig pc 8500 and a Q6600 overclocked to 3.2.

Dont notice any difference between DX10 or DX9,graphically or performance.I installed the beta drivers for nvidea cards which are optimised for farcry2 but didnt notice a great deal of difference,by the way you have to be on DX10 in the game before you install the drivers or you will not be able to get the game running just a black screen appears if you install the drivers while the game is set to run in DX9.

Back to the game..

Thank you! Was wondering why i just got a blank screen. Installed the whql 178.24 or something and it worked. At least i know now how to get it working with the new betas :D

Nice, what setup?

Q6600 3.15GHz, 8GB ram, 4870, Vista64.

But...

...After rescuing my first "buddy" I have to say I'm not too impressed with the game /so far/

Whilst the performance is good even on Ultra High the graphical polish is nowhere near Crysis and there is this distinct "skip" or pause/resume in the video motion that happens every few seconds, it's very short but very noticeable if you're like me and notice small details.

I did notice many texture popups and glitches but on the whole the character animations and dynamics seem to be nicely done. The voice acting however is not, it sounds too rushed or like a badly dubbed Japanese movie (pretty much any dubbed Jap movie).

I have a few screenshots here: http://robbiekhan.co.uk/root/games/farcry2

It's not a game I'd otherwise spend any money on, certainly not over £15 anyway because it doesn't have the level of polish for a game asking for full retail price.

IMO Crysis Warhead DOES has the level of polish and presentation that asks for such a price.

I also wish there could have been more interaction with objects and things like in Crysis. As it is in FC2 you can only interact with objects that are meant to be so so you can't pick up a bottle and throw it at people or anything like that.

Meh, I'll continue playing and hope it picks up but first impressions aren't great. I'll probably sell it within the next week if it remains like this though.

I'm also reading Dead Space on the PC has very clunky controls so both games feel like they are more suited to a console than on the PC.

So looks like it's down to GTA4 and Left 4 Dead to cater for my primary gaming and Bully etc for the odd 30-60 mins of gaming before work and stuff.

I demand more screenies! :)

...because my copy wasn't delivered today :(

I've just been searching around, and noticed most places say there are no plans as of now for a SDK release :(

I was really hoping for mods right from the off.
You really surprised? This is Ubisoft - developed and published... One of the worst outfits for producing something for gamers...

Anyone know how this fares on a single G92 8800 GTS?

ps3ud0

Sorry for another 'can i run this post', but this is one of the first fps games for a while to make intreigue me. Do I have a hope of running this with it looking nice at 1280x1024 -

Athlon x2 4200
4gb ddr1 memory
8800gts 320mb
vista 64

Or is now the time I need to wave farewell to my mortherboard and embrace core2duo?

Runs fine on my 8800GTS 320mb at 1152x864 (could push 1280x1024, but i wanted constant high fps) at Very High, with Post Fx at High.
