FARCRY 2 --- Officially , official of official threads! ---

This game is really awful, like the guy above said. Half life 2 maxed out with full AA and AF looks and runs so much better than this.

The mouse movement suffers the same as bioshock did, in that it feels slighty laggy and slow. As far as shooting goes it ranks as one of the worst I have played the aiming and the guns look and feel clunky.

Utterly dissapointing and a disgrace to the Far Cry name.

Edit: I figured it out, this game is basically Conflict Denied Ops on a bigger budget.
+1
Am using a 360 gamepad on 40" HDTV and the controls are very smooth but even then this game is just a complete bore. Can only see myself playing it when I get fed up watching paint dry!!

The combat feels a little...i dunno. Just doesnt seem to have much of a feel to it, like the weapons\sound\feedback of them are very unconvincing or something.

hmmmm.

at this rate it doesnt sound worth even opening mine when it arrives and just sell it straight on..

sounds very disappointing

I'm becoming increasingly more annoyed with this game. The initial "tutorial" lasted way too long, and was unskippable. I hate it when games treat me like a 7 year old and don't give me the option to just play. By the time the tutorial section was over (It actually told me this), I was bored to tears.

Secondly, this game is a linear game masquerading as an open world game. End of. There is nothing truly open about it. So far it's basically "go here, do this" repeatedly, and you don't really have a choice. You can't progress or get new weapons, or new anything, without first following one of the boring objectives; making it not truly open. It's just an open world that is on rails.

I can honestly say this is a game that feels like it has been designed for the console tards - it's not really that open and it constantly feels like it's holding your hand. The way tutorial and help messages are flashing up every two seconds, the way combat is unintelligent (You can't even prone or single shot with an assault rifle), right down to the fact that every single item in the game "blink" to indicate they can be picked up. It's noobish and frustrating. I feel like I'm playing a first person GTA game.

This all needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, because it's still worth picking up, but this is just a warning to those who think it is going to be some amazing open shooter; it's not. I guess I've just been spoiled by more intelligent shooters like STALKER and dare I say it, Crysis.

Deserves a 7 or 7.5 out of 10 at most. Feeling rather let down at the moment.

I'm glad people have been posting in here. I was in two minds about purchasing it, but I think I'm going to give it a miss for now. I'll probably wait for it to come down in price a bit before I pick it up.

Thanks for the warning guys.

Some thing's is broken, the game doesn't want to fun full-screen.

I've installed it, loaded (which went fullscreen fine) the changed the display options to what I want, now it'll only startup in a window :(

why cant people just make up there own minds , if you have bought the game play it ? you might like it , i seem to remember there are lovers and haters of crysis , all this open game talk , doesnt do it for me , i mean how boring would it be for a game that lets you go anywhere and do anything there would be no structure or missions , or as in say crysis , a means of escape......one post mentioned the graphics were dull and boring and the colour pallete was horrible , well it is bases in africa , not tropical jungle , yes i have ordered it , should be with me tommorow , so i will wait and make up my own mind ..... there has been no game ever released that was perfect , but i am sure it will be ptched soon., and there is a map editor so maybe the SDK wont be far off

I like it, have noticed a bad bug straight away ! on the second mission the one after you get the safehouse as you approach the village there is a mounted 50 cal gun if you use it you cant unuse it your just stuck on the gun lol.

6/10 but better than your average release worth a play through once then forgotten about.

I'm starting to like it - turn up mouse sensitivity to the max in the options. Makes the menus a lot more bearable and makes it like any other FPS in game

(I'm using Logitech G5)

most of the reviews i have seen says you need to give the game a chance , to get into it , if it takes a few hours or days , is that a bad thing ? crysis warhead was over in 6 hrs for me , and i aint a great player!

Im all at max details and it runs great apart from... i've fixed his car and it doesnt give me my next mission :(

you have to do the auto tips and follow all that then he calls you and you can use the car you fixed

Completely maxed out if anyone is interested what it looks like

Anyone getting bad gfx glitches such as large coloured patches on the hills etc?
4870 with latest ATI far cry 2 fix driver.

I'm kinda disappointed so far, only 18% into the game but it's basically just "grab mission, go to location, kill, go back" and it's getting dull very very quickly. It seems very big at first but it's just the same areas repeated a couple of times and transportation is slow and you keep getting attacked by annoying(respawning - argh) enemies on the way.

It seems seriously dumbed down, there should be a lot more people in town and more to do.

The game is good, it could have been great though. It is a bit linear but there are always possibilities to go off and explore or have a random battle.

The respawn is bloody annoying though, gonna prowl through the settings files to look for a fix. There is one place up north where I took out a guard hut on a river junction, went upriver to take out a big base there, came back 10 minutes later and the guards had reappeared.

I did get a bit confused for a good while and I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, I hadn't read my mission objectives that said I had to go buy a gun, all I'd read was to meet a guy in the bar and I couldn't open the door so I went wandering thinking that maybe it opened at a certain time.

This would have been frustrating but I actually had a good time wandering around, took out a few guard places, a couple of bigger bases, a cellular tower (dont know why) and I took a boat trip on the river in the early dawn that was absolutely beautiful, sun just shining over the hill tops around me. It was absolutely stunning and I've played through a good portion of Crysis and Crysis warhead. This game mightn't be as "ZOMG awesome graphics!!11" as Crysis but it's got a much more realistic, gritty feel.

Just bought my gun and got my first proper mission and side mission. Was heading down there and had just pulled off the perfect raid on a patrolling jeep and guard post when it crashed. Annoying thing was I skipped a chance to save a minute beforehand =/

It froze my computer so I had to manually reboot, only problem I've had so far apart from the AA problem I mentioned above. Haven't installed that driver patch yet though so it might be fixed.

The AI is a mixed bag, at times they're intelligent, circling around you, not running out into your line of fire when you shoot, and other times they seem completely oblivious to the fact that I just set their base on fire. I was impressed though when I tore through a guard post on that junction southeast of Pala, ran over a shotgun guy and made my way past them as fast as I could. My jeep was damaged so I stopped after what I considered a safe distance to repair it. Just had it repaired and I hear them chasing me in a jeep of their own. They'd actually hopped into it to follow me. Cue them crashing into the back of my jeep, me pulling out my rocket launcher and firing a tad bit too close for comfort and slaughtering both them and the two jeeps. Was a pretty cool omgwtf can't believe I survived that kind of moments.

Pros so far(in no order):
Graphics,
Big open map,
Lots of weapons (though hard to unlock them),
Weapon and Vehicle damage,
AI,
Good story,
Good immersive feel,
Map is very well done imo.

Cons:
What's with everyone leaving random diamonds around?
Water isn't quite so pretty as it could be,
A little buggy,
AI sometimes iffy,
Everyone has the same guns,
Guard respawn!!
Feels pretty scripted, haven't found any random side missions yet.
